I thought it was alright. Not much happened in terms of story progression though the whole issue basically served as a catch up issue for new readers.
Nevertheless i found it enjoyable. Dialogue was tight, Kudranskis art was probably his best yet and seeing him tackle the first issue layouts did something for the nostalgia freak in me :)

I just want em to get back to the events of last issue!

Also, the ending!!! OMG hes back!? Wut!!!

Yeah I want to return to the revelations of last issue too, but to be quite honest thats a pretty big door of story possibilities that they can do with just that plot line that can converge with Bludd planning to attack Heaven and whatever role the returning character in 220 will play in that. Its best to just finish up the whole Jim CIA researcher angle thats been dangling around since Endgame back almost 4 years ago (wow has it really been that long!) and with Tremor coming back now it only makes sense to wrap that plot point up together with Terry Fitzgerald and CIA HQ before tackling the next big mystery of Jim. Who knows what the plans are for Tremor after this, but he could play a bigger role than he ever did when he was first introduced if Hel takes over him.

The new angle introduced in issue 219, can bring in the Bludd stuff, the Vatican stuff, and what Jim is planning to do with Rat City, and more so its best to wrap up the researcher angle first then tackle this.

    Hi:
I just wanted to come back and say thanks to Dark-Flux and Scott M Davis; I had a few issues from back in the day, bought a bunch and completed a run from 1 - 50; I'll star reading this weekend and let you know how it goes, eventually I'll try to get the rest up to the 100 issue but I may do that in TPBs because there are some very difficult to get and expensive issues there.
    Cheers.

Hi! I'm up to issue 20, so far so good, I'm enjoying it a lot. Didn't care for the Overt-Kill storyline of issues 6 & 7, but I've liked all the rest so far.
Finished issue 20 and read the Spawn/Batman crossover right after, from what I've been able to find that's where it fits, what I don't know is where should I fit the Violator and Angela minis, there's an old thread, dead now, but I can't read it completely:

Could you guys help me? So I read them in order and don't lose any continuity.
    Thanks.

Glad to hear your enjoying the series. After the Spawn/Batman crossover begins the 4-issue arc known as The Hunt which goes from issue 21-24 which I personally enjoyed. The Violator mini is referenced in issue 26, so I guess you can read the Violator mini at the same time as The Hunt arc since they originally came out the same time, but maybe it would be best to read The Hunt first and then the Violator mini. Just know that not much is referenced of it in issue 26 so its not that big a deal.

The same cannot be said of the Angela mini. The Angela mini has to be read before issue 29. Their is a jump between issue 28 and 29 and that jump is explained by the Angela mini. So that would be best to do. So I would say read 21-24, you can read either 25 or the Violator mini the choice is yours and then read the other, then read issue 26-28, then the Angela mini, then issue 29 onwards.

I have the HCs collecting up to issue 75. I enjoy them greatly but am pissed that the mini's weren't collected as well.

The Batman/Spawn mini was/is really important plot point to the series.

Actually you can get away without reading Batman/Spawn as Als face gash can also be attributed to a bullet wound he recieves at the end of #21. The "bozo in black" could also be a reference to Houdini.

Thanks guys, I got to 28 yesterday so tonight I'm reding the Angela mini. Does the Bloodfeud mini fit between numbers 32 and 33 as that old thread says?. Is there any tie-ins after that worth reading?.

Well, at the end of issue 32, their is a 6-page prelude to Bloodfeud that lets you know what happened to The Curse. In terms of references, Bloodfeud does reference the Violator mini in the third issue and that same Bloodfeud issue is referenced in issue 35 of the Spawn series. Outside of that, I don't think anything else is referenced.

Curse of the Spawn I enjoyed a lot as it told stories with either a different Hellspawn in a different time or exploring other characters in the series such as Sam & Twitch, Angela, The Curse, Malebolgia, and The Freak. The format for that series was very much standalone arcs so their weren't any connections from arc to arc (with the sole exception being the Sam & Twitch stories), just helping in the overall expansion of the Spawn mythos in different corners which I liked. Their is some reference to the Curse series in the regular Spawn series here and there.

Spawn The Dark Ages I believe was the last tie-in series that was one of those series that I went from liked to not liked depending on the arc. I think the series ends on a good note though and in terms of tie-in material the Spawn in that series is mentioned in issue 118 and in one of the 70 issues, Cogliostro talks about a specific angel he killed, well that angel and Cog appear in Spawn The Dark Ages and you will see how that pans out.

However due to recent events of where the current Spawn series is in, both the Hellspawn and Case Files Sam & Twitch, the first arc at least, (and by extension the original Sam & Twitch series though only the first arc) have been referenced in the 200s and all 3 of those are really good.

    Spawn 221 Preview

Kudranski is killing it like always with the art. Can't wait to see Tremor.

Spawn 221 comes out this Wednesday, July 4th.

Well, thanks. I stoped at isue 32 while the Bloodfeud mini arrives, so for now I'm reading other series but I'll return to Spawn when I get it.

So....picked up issue 221 this week and I thought it was pretty good.

Content-wise, the story is moving into this descent to madness for Jim Downing and him trying to keep the two lives, one as the celebrity/messiah and the other as the Hellspawn, apart, but in fact the lines are blurring. This was something that was hinted at by Bludd several issues back and after the weeks he's had with with the Elite Guard and then Freakbolgia and new powers/memories coming to light its had a profound impact on him and its only adding more now that he is trying to piece together what "The Project" is/was. Btw, nice easter egg of having an image of Richard from issue 25 though where that picture is found is this web that Jim's created with characters from Endgame, post-Endgame, the new team's story, and pictures of various people of the Spawn mythos. It looks it'll come to ahead to an extent next issue when he teams up with Tremor or at least it appears that is what will happen. Wonder what Tremor will think when Jim transforms...

Art-wise, I'm pretty much a broken record at this point by saying that Kudranski is killing it on the art especially that dream sequence in the beginning of the issue is great stuff and his Tremor looks pretty good and can't wait to see him do his thing next issue.

This was more an issue that lays the work for whats to come and it looks to be a pretty interesting time to come. One thing I also noticed was that their are actually reviews out there for this issue and they are all positive and when I went to buy the issue at my local LCS, I luckily was able to get the last one which is a RARE case that that happens. Hopefully more eyes are on Spawn both critically and in the sales as this new direction has been great since last year and I really hope this opens the doors for Kudranski especially to get more projects be it with DC (more Batman stuff would be great) or with Image (I would like to see a crime story with some other genre mixed in with Kudranski on art and maybe Weibe doing the writing and be another genre Kurtis could dip into) so long as it doesn't interfere with his Spawn work of course.

Did Spawn#52 and Savage Dragon: a talk with God, happen around the same time? Those two stories seem connected.
