Ord was great! He existed long enough to get the plot moving and even had a heroic sacrifice for his psychotic people. He also spent the majority of Whedon's run being brutalized in hysterical ways. Wolverine's fist in his mouth remains one of the most demeaning images of a Supervillain getting schooled, ever.

Well, the general consensus is that it's a strong series, but like all things Whedon, there are a lot of dissenting opinions on it.

Personally, I don't think it's too good. The characters are fairly bland and unremarkable, specifically his execrable creation, Armor, awful new villains Danger and Ord, and his attempt to return to classic style X-Men felt less like a harkening back to the franchise's glory days and more like a regressive nostalgia trip with a fixation on getting Kitty to take her clothes off. Coming off Grant Morrison's run, Astonishing X-Men just rings hollow.

He was horrible. Ord nearly derailed Gillen's burgeoning Uncanny run.

Now, I'm super curious about the Armor thing. I like Armor a lot (She sucked in the anime, but the anime sucked in general IMO-only, of course.) But since coming to the CBR forums, I see that Hisako is really unpopular. What is it about her that causes that? Is it because she skipped straight ahead to the main team, or something else?

It's because she only appears in out of continuity books. No one believes she exists in the "real" X-Men universe.

I liked it while reading it and use it as an introduction for some people into the X-Men but overall it was pretty bland and felt a little uninspired to me.

In astonishing she could have been a figment of Wolverine's imagination, I don't even recall her talking to anyone else.

    No House of Gentlefolk? Wtf?

Daesim had the right idea when he called Whedon's AXM the perfect commode accessory/toilet paper cozy.

I remember her once telling the Cuckoos to shut up.

That wasn't Ord. But it's a common mistake, all Breakworlders look the same. That, or they're all just plain boring.
