Whedon's Astonishing X-Men Mega thread

i am very late in the game on this....nonetheless....

i picked up the first collecting of Whedo's Astonishing X-men...issues 1-6.....

wow.

There was character development, great interaction, a sense of humanity mixed with heroics, and quotable lines on almost every page.

The other X titles sorta pale. New X-Men is the only other one with a voice as unique as this, and it is getting the can.

If all the X-titles were as inspired as this....we would be prosperous...i say!

Here's a tip, stop with #1-#6. It all goes downhill from there. Dangerous is especially bad.

Yeah despite what some whedonites may say Astonishing x-men is a big disapointment, that has the occaisional kewl moment, but is mostly crap on a stick.

i haven't read the rest of the series.

Nonetheless, the first six issues should set an example for how a comic should be made.

Warren Ellis...i like New Universal a lot....who knows what he will do.

Interesting how the comic is not even in contiuity.....the other titles are a big blob of clones, action, alternate realities, children from alternate realities, and so on.

The craftmanship was perfect on these issues. New X-Men had a lot of unique inspiration also...i will be sad to see it go.

X-Factor also has an interesting concept, tho i have not been able to warm up to it as quickly. i do love Layla.

Of all the comics, i really found Uncanny...the flagship of the rest...to be the weakest. Anyone else feel this way?

That's pretty much true of most books. Unless a crossover is going on.

That's a bit much. It's not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's better than most of Morrison's stuff.

I think it is definitely worth reading the rest of the 24 issues, especially since you don't have to wait months between each one. I enjoyed each arc overall, and there are so many moments where I just cheered on the characters.
