The images are not being blown up when clicked on; can it be fixed?

btw, the College story is surreal. What the hell does the music industry even has to do with the education system? Next, the united bakers association will be calling the shots on what goes on in schools???

Because college students illegally download music through the school servers, thus the music industry can't track the piraters down through specific IP addresses since it's being done through the overall school IP address.

In other words, we won. Whether it was because of WATCHMEN, NARUTO, MAUS, BLANKETS, SIN CITY, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, all of the above or none of the above we are now generally taken seriously. Or, rather, as seriously as any entertainment medium is taken.
i think i have to disagree. first of all, who is "we." the most famous and hip creators are respected but what about the aging nerdy guys like kurt busiek and chris claremont. and what about the readers. you could take a girl to see the spider-man movie, but what if you tried to discuss the exciting monthly adventures of the teen titans with her?

is it really that great if there's a short review of a comic book in entertainment weekly? what's happened is there are more hip nerdy guys writing for magazines these days, and editors who let them indulge themselves once in a while.

but if there is newfound respect for comics, it's because of Movies. comics are potential movies, writers are potential screenwriters. that's what is exciting, not the comics themselves.

comics aren't really comics anymore...they're resumes. unfilmed screenplays. is there a young writer who only wants to write comic books for the rest of his life?

Which brings up interesting questions, such as whether a university has common carrier status, or do plaintiffs in a civil case have police powers because they have lots of money.

On the other side, it has been decided by the Supreme Court that the 4th Amendment is violated when the federal government authorizes a private entity to perform a search without probable cause and specifics.

And there HAVE been successful countersuits against the RIAA.

The plaintiffs probably do, even though they shouldn't.

Isn't countersuiting in this case problematic since the students are in fact pirating music? And I don't mean that to say they're guilty of anything (I'm not sure how I feel on the subject), but the ones doing the pirating can't stand up and identify themselves. It would have to be other students who aren't downloading who resent the invasion of their privacy to sue the RIAA, I would think.

Saying that "comics aren't really comics anymore" doesn't really make much sense to me. In what way are today's comics any less "comic-y"? The fact that they make excellent, cost-effective pitching platforms for development in other media doesn't take away the fact that they are still comics.

Comic books have been around for about 75 years. During how long a period were there an appreciable number of young writers who only wanted to create comic books for the rest of their lives? Even Grant kind of backed in to comic book writing. And consider; Stan Lee claims that, up until the time he created THE FANTASTIC FOUR, and even beyond that, he considered comics a way of pulling in extra money until he became a REAL writer.

I'd go a little more than that; maybe a 5-10 year period (I remember when Marvel started their "royalty" system, and Chris Claremont's annual income suddenly jumped from about $35,000/year to about $135,000 per year). As far as artists go, I'd say a longer period than that, especially around the time Image started.
