Oddly enough, one song I heard years ago I thought would have been perfect for Penny, especially if she came out of her shell. That was Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson. Mind you, this is just my opinion.

Hey, all! After reading my next reply, you'll see why it took me song long to respond to this thread and why I had to save it for my day off. ;D

I like it! We could also say "Penny Pals" to capture some alliteration also. :P

One thing I don't get though is why Penance doesn't seem quite so bloodthirsty and is unable to speak in Generation X? Maybe you explained it in another one of your fanfics (which I do also plan to read when I find time, promise).

Just wanted to interject... that one time I had Penny be bloodthirsty in her backstory, I explained the dramatic change in her personality as the result of the tortures Marius put her through for years. She's skittish, unsure of herself, etc., and after hurting for so long, she never wants to hurt anyone ever again.

Wasn't sure what to expect of this song b/c it's Hanson, but it was pretty catchy and upbeat. While I do like "Pretty Penny" from Stone Temple Pilots, this would probably make a better theme.

"Penny and Me" is definitely upbeat enough for the '90s, despite the fact that it was made in 2004, and has broader appeal, but "Pretty Penny" is better for an edgier Penny... and I already call her "Pretty Penny," so... XD Apparently, it came out the same year as Generation X, too. :) You're right though, it's probably too niche... the Hanson song is a better "theme song." XD

That's who we're voting for now, hehe. He's got a real chance of making it to the Top Two if we keep up the pressure on Monet!

Miss Independent isn't a song that strikes me as "Penny" -- it's more Monet, Emma, or Paige than Penny. Even out of her shell, I'd say it's just way too confident and loud and oversynthesized/"urban" for her.

~But~ I can also see what you mean, in a couple of places:
"Miss Keep Your Distance" -- "Little Miss Apprehensive" -- "She looked in the mirror and thought today: What happened to Miss No Longer Afraid?"

I'd score it 1/10 on the PRI (Penny Relatibility Index...yes, I just made that up, lol), which is better than it not relating at all. ;D

Funnily enough, though, Kelly Clarkson IS an artist I feel well-suited for Penance.

Vulnerable definitely has Penny pegged in the title. I'd say that's about it, though. PRI: 1/10 for "she's so vulnerable, no heart should hide away." P.S. listening to this song made me want to tear out my hair. XD *shudder* So I'd go with... No. Just no. Could agree with you on "Miss Independent" for Storm reflecting on her love for Black Panther, though.

SQUEE that she was included (awesome fanmade AvX poster for her, too!), but I wish Avengers Roll Call had used a picture from #6 rather than #3... red skin and blue eyes for the win! Thanks so much for sharing!! :)

I'd guess that she carves shrubs into funny shapes/people/animals around campus. I so wanna see this in the comics. :)
