    Default Lady Deathstrike Appreciation

Even though her appearances in the comics have been very sporadic lately, Lady Deathstrike is by far my favorite X-Men villian of all time. Even though I was slightly unsettled to see that she didn't stay with the Thunderbolts after the Civil War, I am most happy to see that she has returned into the spotlight during Messiah CompleX. She's now leading the Reavers and will first appear in Messiah CompleX in issue #205 of X-Men.

I actually really like her. And I'm pumped to see playing a role in Messiah Complex.

Funny that her first appearence as a cyborg was in Uncanny #205.

I always liked her. She was meant to murder Wolverine, BTW.

I'm a little confused on my Lady Deathstrike history. Is she Wolvie's old flame, the one he was going to marry around Uncanny 160's where Paul Smith was the artist?

I thought she had a little foster daughter. What happened to that kid?

And if she is Wolvie's old flame, where did she get all the hand-to-hand skills? I always thought she was just a business woman that was a daughter of the Japanese mob or something.

I'm glad she has a new outfit, the old one was stank.

I wanna see her and Cylla form a partnership!

No, that was Mariko, who died in the early 90's.

I have no idea hwere she's now.

But I guess soon she'll show up as part of Riomulus conspiracy.

    And BTW, where's Cylla?

What xmanson said plus: Yukio (assassin that ran around with Storm and occasionally shares a bed with Logan) has the kid (Aiko? Akiko?), raising her as her own & Logan's. Believe she's (the kid) now training to be a warrior priestess in the last thing she was featured in (she's the last descendent of blah-de-blah).

Mariko was Logan's old flame who was the daughter of a noble Japanse family but her father ran a crime cartel. When he was killed she had to hold the family name together (including the crime bits - honour and all that stuff).

Deathstrike (Yuriko, not Yukio) is the daughter of the guy that came up with the admantium bonding stuff - which is why she's always chasing Logan as she blamed him for her father's death/adamantium being stolen. She went through Spiral's body shop and was augmented by what's his face (ex Lord Cardinal, Cyborg guy, head of reavers) into the Cyborg she is.

Wolverine soooooooooo needs a Spotlight - but they'd have to redo it every couple of months.

No, Wolvie's fiance is Mariko Yoshida who first appears in Uncanny X-Men #118.

Lady Deathstrike's father helped create Adamantium. Deathstrike believes her life cannot move forward until she fulfills her father's dream which is Wolverine is to be killed. It's all really captured in Uncanny X-Men #205.

In the X-Men cartoon it made Deathstrike Wolvie's old flame.

    Default Lady Deathstrike Appreciation Thread.

I did a search and suprisingly there was no appreciation thread for for Yuriko Oyama.

For a full bio and history see here.

I many respects I think she makes a better foil for Wolverine and X-23 than Sabretooth. She is honourable and does not kill indescriminately.

She also has a logical reason to dislike Wolverine as his original adamantium skeleton was based on work stolen from her father Lord Darkwind. I've always wondered though, why she didn't ever go after Bullseye, as he too has a skeleton based on Lord Darkwind's work.

I think the classic battle between her and Wolverine took place in Uncanny X-Men #205 and subsequent issues of the X-Men in that era. Particularly when she almost single handedly took out Forge's team on Muir Island.

The most tender moment in her history occured in Wolverine #77 when she discovered that Logan no longer had his adamantium. She was almost kind whe she left him. This incident makes me wonder why she continues to fight him as the adamantium he has now is not his original adamantium and therefore not related in any way to her father.

Her recent appearances have not been so convincing as her early ones, but I hope that given what she did to Hellion she can become an ongoing foe for X-23 rather than Logan, this time with the situation reversed and the animosity will be on X-23s side.

Who will join me in appreciating the mistress of the adamantium claw, daughter of Lord Darkwind, occasionally ally of Spiral and Donald Pierce and the sexiest cyborg of them all, Yuriko Oyama, the Lady Deathstrike.

I like her because she almost killed Hellion but also kinda dislike her because she managed to mess it up.

Love me some Deathstrike. Hopefully, she regains her sense of honor and the writers & editors clean up this character.

Actually, Bullseye's skeleton, instead of being based on Lord Darkwind's work, actually WAS Lord Darkwind's work. The last thing Lord Darkwind did before his death was to heal Bullseye's spine and coat parts of his skeleton in adamantium.

Thanks for clarifying that. I've only bought Daredevil 197, 198 and 199 today, will read them when I get home.
