Default The Ultimates Vol. 3 Preview

From IGN, comes some kickass, never before seen pages from the upcoming Ultimates 3.

    http://comics.ign.com/articles/833/833811p1.html

It would appear that Venom in the Ultimate Universe is a lot more powerful than his 616 counterpart.

Hopefully there will be enough fight scenes that we don't notice the story.

I've always liked Mad's art, but I am not sure I like the new direction for the Ultimates. The outfits look too 616/Youngblood for me, and I am not a Venom fan. I will likely pick up the book to give it a shot, and I like the characters (save again, for Venom).

Nitpick for now, because I imagine it will be fixed. The coloring on Jan's hair is wrong on the Thor splash page, and I hope the character remains the Asian mutant she was in the Millar series.

Whilst it is good art, I don't think it is good for Ultimates.

I appreciate the need to move away from Hitch's style to give the book a new voice, but this isn't Ultimates to me.

Personally, I'm kinda curious how they're gonna justify allowing what amounts to a highly powerful special forces unit operate without United States control. Ain't like people in the army can throw up their hands and say 'I quit!'.

Damn right it ain't. Ultimates was what a SuperHero book should be, with Character moments, this looks rushed and the Art layout is a pain on the eyes :(

Because the fact that they did control it was leading to an arms race.

Seems the government was willing to give up "official" control in order to be the only country with such a team.

    It looks really retro.

Doesn't seem to make much sense given that the other countries will still have their arms while the U.S. wouldn't have total authority over the team with proven successes against other superhuman weapons. Just seems foolish to me.

    Looks like crazy fun.

I've been a Mad fan since that Vanguard issue he did for Image so it'll be great to see him do interiors again.

Is that guy with the guns Hawkeye?

I think I would have to read the comic to see how well the layout works. I always wanted to do stuff like that- people bursting out of the panels. I don't know about the coloring and whatever digital inking thing they may have done. It may take away from Joe Mad's pencils which are great.

And people, let us not forget what a big success Youngblood was.:D It was the biggest indie comic and they killed Kadaam Kusein in it. Liefeld went on Dennis Miller to promote it. If that's not success, I don't know what is.
