Default Gurewitch talks "The Perry Bible Fellowship"

Cartoonist Nicholas Gurewitch talks to CBR News about "Perry Bible Fellowship," his increasingly popular, award-winning and always insane newspaper and Webcomics strip that's just been collected into a deluxe volume by Dark Horse.

This is an incredible book and NEEDS to be on the book shelf of every single man, woman and child living or dead. I'd like to see this book sell more copies than there are stars in the heavens.

I'm glad there was a nice shout out in the article to the good ole' "daily orange" where many a professional and semi-professional cartoonists get their first shot! GO D.O.!

Perry Bible Fellowship is the greatest webcomic that has ever been. I will buy two copies of this book.

WOW, not to many responces to this thread. Really a shame. I like to think there isn't much chatter because everybody online already knows that Perry Bible Fellowship is the greatest web-comic in years, so there is nothing to discuss...I hope.

I really get a kick out of the Web-comic to Print Comic phenom. Ted Rall started up a small umbrella at Universal Syndicates (Or King, I can't remember) of many online comics pros. SOme jumped on board (R. Steven's "DieselSweeties") while others didn't (Perry Bible fellowship.) Scott Kurtz publishes print archives of PvP, and Dark Horse also puts out the Penny Arcade trades.

Seems some Online creators are reaching out to print fans...but It also seems they don't have to for their business model. I wonder if it's profitable at all, or if they are just doing it out of the love and vanity that comes from print?

-My favorite PBF is "Weejaboo." God is that funny.

PBF is brilliant. Twisted, but brilliant.

I had my shop order it for me and as soon as it came in and the owner saw it, he realized he should have ordered more. I should had pointed it out to him. He said it sounded familiar and he realized he heard about it from some customers. He said he thinks one customer even went to college with the author and was raving about it.

As for web comics to print, it is very intersting. Web comics are a place for unkowns to get known. They're like underground comics and self published comics of the past, but with worldwide distribution. Then, once it has a fanbase, they can put out print comics. Hopefully people are still into print. I've gotten a couple of web comics in print that were more self published, or at least done by a smaller publisher than Dark Horse. Mac Hall and Paper Eleven come to mind. I bought them from the creators at cons.

Oh and "Weeaboo" is now part of my volcab. Though oddly enough it's taken on the meaning of "white kids who are wannabe Japanese" instead of saying Wapanese. Though this is often followed by "Did someone say weeaboo?"
