MarkAndrew at Comics Should Be Good
Would you consider The Black Coat pirate comics?
Even though its a mix of pirate and American Revolutionary War fiction?
If so, I'd highly recommend this one
"If you live among wolves you have to act like a wolf."
Well, BOOM Studios had a comic called Pirate Tales which had different stories that have to do with pirates. ;)
Image has a "landlocked" pirate book out now called Pirates of Coney Island.
It is quite awesome.

Apologies for the threadcromancy (making this a zombie pirate thread, I guess), but I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I have a pirate comic (which conveniently also answers the "are there any good pirates?" question) coming out from SLG in June.
I feel a bit weird popping up and self-promoting, but I'm told I have to -- the chance of an indie book, especially a classic novel adaptation, getting racked is about .05% in the first place, so if I don't tell people this thing exists, they won't ever know. So here we go: I've been working on a comics adaptation of the single greatest damn pirate novel of all time: Captain Blood.
The cover looks like this:
...and you can preview the first eight pages of the book at a readable size/resolution over at my ComicSpace account, right here. It's being published by SLG: the ISBN and Previews codes are 159362154X and APR090631, respectively.
It is, in my obviously biased opinion, a great adaptation of an even better novel. Even if you do decide to check out the comic, I can't stress enough that you still need to read the original book -- it's a spectacular read (that first link goes to the Project Gutenberg version), and even serves as a primer on the Monmouth rebellion and the powderkeg of inter-European politics in the 18th century. We're scrambling to do it justice with our sepia-and-white rendition of it.
I was looking for other pirate books on CBR and found this thread, so I thought I'd make mention of Captain Blood. If there are any piratey types here, I figured the heads-up might be appreciated.
Captain Blood is in fact awesome. I didn't care for the movie much, because Errol Flynn seemed unaware that his character was supposed to be Irish, despite many hints in the dialogue, but the book's one of my favourites. I like it better than I like any other Rafael Sabatini books, and that's saying something.
I seem to recall reading another comic-book adaptation of it, recently, though. Someone did a whole TPB of Sabatini stories, and an abridged version of Captain Blood was one of them. It was okay.

Jamie Delano has a new pirate comic coming out from Avatar that I believe is called Rawbone or something to that effect. I haven't read it, so I can't comment on its quality personally, but the reviews I've read on the first issue have been filled with praise.
Apparently Pirate Comics are all the rage nowadays!!! As I just picked up another one this week!! With raves by Mike Mignola and another it was interesting...Cursed Pirate Girl
Good stuff...but still not up to par on the Avatar series.
I like Cursed Pirate Girl a lot.
She-Buccaneer, while it's never gonna be great art, has improved immensely since the first issue.
Rawbone didn't do much for me. The first issue was too dense and felt over-written.
Sadly, nobody's mentioned Pi-Rats.

I'd be remiss if I didn't say that Captain Blood #1 should be in stores right now, but given the difficulty that indie comics have in getting racked (classic novel adaptations from small publishers aren't the sort of things that retailers order dozens of on spec), you might not see it at your LCS -- you can ask for it with Previews code APR090631 or just pick it up directly at SLGcomic.com. My preference is always that you support your local retailer, though.
We're hard at work on #2 (script's done, art is underway), and already have a cover image. Should be up in July's PREVIEWS.
