    Default Putting Moderators on ignore

Is there a way to make that happen? Like, if I agree to be banned from a moderator's board, never to go there again, could I put that moderator on ignore?

You can't put a mod on ignore.

    This saddens me.

Not a lot, mind you. On the scale of things to be sad about, this one rates only a bit above "Geez, didn't X-FILES suck after season 5?" but it's still unfortunate.

It is just so a mod can moderate. Say someone puts a mod on ignore, and the mod sends that persona warning, then that person would never receive that warning.

When someone is asked/Asks to be a Mod, are they explicity told that they should generally be respectful and helpful to posters, or is it just sort of assumed they already know?

Also, if a Mod gets enough complaints or is shown to be overly aggressive/combative, what point does that have to reach before Jonah or Matt have to consider stripping them of their Mod-hood?

I've seen some pretty offensive/aggressive Moderators be subtly insulting and overly offensive and/or defensive around here, and my first thought is always "I thought they were chosen to be Mods because they don't do that sort of stuff?"

    Oh, I understand all that.

That doesn't mean I can't also regret it.

Mods are there to make sure people follow the general forum rules as well as the board specific rules if there are any. They are also there to help people out if they need questions answered or don't know how to do certain things on these forums. They are kind of a mix of a hall monitor and a bartender. When a mod asks someone to follow the rules, it should be heeded.

You can always contact a Super-mod or an admin if you have an issue with a mod. They will look into it.

To be honest most message board moderators are like that it's not just here.
it would be nice if it was like hanging out at some dudes house but i guess that would be impossible with so many people.

I understand Man In Black and Jeffrey's points--and I agree with them. I've seen certain CBR mods who engage members in conversation, treat them in insulting ways, then invoke "Mod Privileges" when the members refuse to take it. Simply put, that's fighting dirty. I also question the notion of asking the people who put mods of lesser character in power for help. Has that ever resolved a problem of that nature?

There have been instances of mods being told to back down and work things out with posters they had a problem with.

When a poster reports a problem with a mod, the staff does look into it. Jonah has even looked into instances himself.

maybe a mod and a poster should meet in a public place and just wrestle on the floor.

we do that at work when two adults bicker back and forth.

Its outta fun and its fun to watch :)
