Is there a way to make that happen? Like, if I agree to be banned from a moderator's board, never to go there again, could I put that moderator on ignore?

You can't put a mod on ignore.

When someone is asked/Asks to be a Mod, are they explicity told that they should generally be respectful and helpful to posters, or is it just sort of assumed they already know?
Also, if a Mod gets enough complaints or is shown to be overly aggressive/combative, what point does that have to reach before Jonah or Matt have to consider stripping them of their Mod-hood?
I've seen some pretty offensive/aggressive Moderators be subtly insulting and overly offensive and/or defensive around here, and my first thought is always "I thought they were chosen to be Mods because they don't do that sort of stuff?"

Mods are there to make sure people follow the general forum rules as well as the board specific rules if there are any. They are also there to help people out if they need questions answered or don't know how to do certain things on these forums. They are kind of a mix of a hall monitor and a bartender. When a mod asks someone to follow the rules, it should be heeded.
You can always contact a Super-mod or an admin if you have an issue with a mod. They will look into it.
I understand Man In Black and Jeffrey's points--and I agree with them. I've seen certain CBR mods who engage members in conversation, treat them in insulting ways, then invoke "Mod Privileges" when the members refuse to take it. Simply put, that's fighting dirty. I also question the notion of asking the people who put mods of lesser character in power for help. Has that ever resolved a problem of that nature?
Who needs CoTM when you can have a Skullie?
I am Tangent Man! I do not care!
maybe a mod and a poster should meet in a public place and just wrestle on the floor.
we do that at work when two adults bicker back and forth.
Its outta fun and its fun to watch :)
