Welcome to the boards. And it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to read this current incarnation of the League then it's not a bad idea. Of course, I don't think it's a particularly great read and I actually found most of Meltzer's run underwhelming. If you want to get into the JLA in general pick up Grant Morrison's first trade, JLA: Year One by Mark Waid or (for a different take on the League) the upcoming Justice League International Volume 1 trade by Giffen and Demaittes.

Well if you want in on the current jla then its a good time since its only on number 14 and easy to catch up on. It was decent but not really that great, when this new storyline ends Im gonna drop it I think.

Personally I loved the grant morrison jla that was in the previous run before they rebooted it.

If you look into those then here are some suggestions for my favorite stories.

1-17 Morrison actually made long haired and electric superman kind of cool.

43-46 tower of babel story which explained alot of the identity crisis and infinite crisis, especially about batman.

90 was a odd little tale but actually interesting.

115-125 was the end story for the leauge.

Can see a listing for them all here.

If you get into the current title, the perfect place would be the Justice League of America Wedding Special followed by Justice League of America #13 & 14. It's the start of a run by one of the main writers of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon

I loved this hardcover and IMO, it's a good place to start because it's the first trade of the current series, the next one isn't out yet, so you'd be starting with the first volume.
