Not too happy with what the GA/BC cover suggests.

    Haney. Allred. Titans.

As the kiddies say, "ZOMG!" I remember just a few days ago someone was saying this was never seeing the light of day.
Now on Dollar Bin Blues: Black History Month? Valentine's Day? Why choose only one?

Some interesting looking stuff. Trades should be good next year.

Me neither. Looks like somebody bites the big one. Darn it, I do seem to remember that Didio said we still had another death coming this year.

Well, given how the series began, it would almost be fitting if it was Canary. But then the death wouldn't be for real again. Can't believe they'd do that twice.

Well, I'd say that leaves either Conner or Mia. My bet's on Mia (but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it).

Alan Burnett on Justice League is a surprise, and a pleasant one at that.

And I'm so glad to see we FINALLY have a second volume of Showcase presents Superman Family.

I'm undecided about Teen Titans: Year One. I want it for Karl Kerschl's art but it's being written by one of the writers of the crappy show. May have to wait for word of month on that one.

That Bat Lash cover is absolutely perfect.

I'm not reading the books or specials they are appearing (except the JLA regular series), but WTF is DC doing to Black Canary and Green Arrow? Slike a normal wedding, but then he bites it, but is there again on JLA, and then he is alive again, and now maybe she will be the one to die... Really, why not simply have them married and leave them alone for a while?

    Anyway, I'm getting:

    BOOSTER GOLD #6
    BATMAN #673
    JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #17
    THE AUTHORITY: PRIME #4
    Y: THE LAST MAN #60
    CROSSING MIDNIGHT #15
    SCALPED #13

Perhaps Flash and the Green Lantern books too.

Wow, you know, I was so ticked off over the idea of DC killing another character that that thought hadn't even occurred to me, but you might be on to something there. Of course, Nightwing is pictured too, so there's always the possibility that it's merely the League coupled with people who are relevant to Ollie and whoever he's holding. Or it could just be a random collage of characters altogether. Still, nice catch, though.

Anyway, back to being angry: Personally, I don't really hold much love for any of the Arrow characters. But even though none of them are a favorite of mine, they're still someone's. That said, I hope this cover is just a misdirection, and no one dies, or at the very least, no one of any real relevance.

WHAT is up with DC not releasing COMPLETE trades of their series? I'm very excited about the Wonder Woman trades, even though I have the issues. And I understand why the trade of issues 6-10 (Love and Murder) are coming out before the trade of issues 1-4/Annual (Who is Wonder Woman). And though I am not impressed with the cover of the Jodi Picoult run of Wonder Woman (I don't care that it looks like her novels), I still plan on buying both of them.

But where is issue five? I know that it was a filler issue, but that's no excuse to leave it out of the trades completely. I mean, the trades are supposed to collect the series. Why does DC think it's okay to just ignore issues?

None of my Marvel trades are missing any issues. Maybe DC should take a hint from Marvel.

No they aren't. The trades are supposed to do whatever the publisher wants them to do. For some comics that is collecting the entire thing. For other ones is producing the series of books that makes the best reading experience (which sometimes means missing out some of the weaker stories). For others still it's just to collect highlights.

    For me this month:
Birds of Prey: Dead of Winter
Blue Beetle v3: Reach for the Stars
Crossing Midnight v2: A Map of Midnight
(Unless I can't be bothered or I forget)
Hellblazer: Joy Ride (Maybe. I really don't like Andy Diggle's work, but everyone keeps raving about his Hellblazer)
    Scalped v2: Casino Boogie (maybe)

    Other thoughts:
They're releasing a HC of the first 7 odd issues of Giffens Justice League. I'm all for them reprinting this stuff, but I really think they've got the format wrong. They should be going for either colour digest books or big cheap phonebooks (bust still in colour).

Time Masters seems an odd choice to reprint. It's not bad, but there is a lot of better stuff out there waiting to be reprinted, like Chase, Haywire, Chain Gang War, Hourman, Plastic Man (Foglio's one), Angel and the Ape, Young Heroes in Love etc....

Yeah, I agree. These are still designed primarily for bookstore sales and the more casual reader, so it's whatever makes sense in that context. There are some series that are designed to be complete collections (Archives, Showcase, Chronicles), but not these. #5 was pure filler, so I skipped it myself and don't see why it's such a big deal.
