    Default This Con Is Fun!

The Australians are great, first thing. They're casual and very sweet and generous and gracious, and I'm loving them. Some really beautiful people.

The organizers are terrific, as well.

Some fun memories of yesterday...meeting Cam and Melb here, even though I couldn't hear them very well.

This is the only con I've ever been to that had actual wrestling going on right near our tables. One match got a little rough and a guy was injured, getting blood all over the ring, back room, and all the way up the stairs to the green room.

Got to meet John Wesley Shipp, the FLASH, and he was incredibly sweet. Hung out with actors from Serenity and Harry Potter and other things.

Rode home in a van with Billy West, who is a hero of mine, and a bunch of other great voice actors, and that was APPALLINGLY HILARIOUS. Billy is unbelievably funny and the other VO guys kept handing him intentional straightlines. He had a Zoidberg doll someone had made for him, and he had it say, "I'm going home to throw one into the wife!" and I was dying. He was just non-stop hysterical.

Then we hooked up with Bruce Timm and his lovely family and walked to a very nice Italian dinner and it was really lovely, very little talk about animation or comics. Bruce is simply one of my favorite people and a brilliant artist and his family is just as nice. It was great.

More as I get a chance...

But thank you to all the Australians and Kiwis who have been so nice!

I'll have to see Billy West today.

I saw the end of the wrestling incident. To the guy's credit he wanted to continue the bout even though his head was gushing like a fountain and he was mightily pissed off when the match was suspended so he could get some medical treatment.

Yeah, 'sorry about the announcer shouting like a lost tourist on the Nullabore and the constant slamming of the wrestlers' bodies onto the canvas.

...Maybe today we could convince them to pinky wrestle instead and we'll hide the announcer's microphone someplace that'd make it painful to sit down.

I love the cossies the kids and some of the presenters done 'emselves up in. Did you see the I Dream of Jeannie lassie ? A dead spit' of Barbara Eden 40 years ago. :)

Oh yeah, Connor Trinneer, from Star Trek: Enterprise was genuinely funny too. He's a pretty cool raconteur and was very enlightening re Star Trek and show biz in general.

Gail Simone having lunch with Bruce Timm, that makes my inner nerd all giddy. :)

It's the lack of beer. He's been at the con way too long!

Quick! Get Cam a beer STAT!!!

Glad everyone's havin' fun. I'd love to come to Australia one day and meet Cam and the others, see the scenery, go to a con, catch a wrestling match, drink some beer, ride in a van full of voice over guys, see some dude from Star Trek, and all that with you guys.

That sounds like the most near perfect day anyone could ever have.

Having lunch with Bruce Campbell would have made it complete.

I thought I'd post these in this thread. It's just as worthy as any other.

I had a great time. Thanks for coming down to Australia, Gail. First of all, please pardon the horrible quality. It would seem that, for the price I paid, focused shots from my digital camera are quite rare. These are the only two out of the many I took(at this panel) which are actually viewable.

It was great to meet both Gail and Cam although I was nervous as all hell. When I get nervous, I get loud and over friendly(if you couldn't tell) so I wasn't exactly myself. :o

    The panel -
