Will the Hood prove to be a formidable Avengers foe?
X-Poster of the Year 2003--- the best there is at what i do ---
I voted No, because I doubt he will and there's no maybe answer ;)
It seems unlikely that in the years to come he'll be seen up there with the likes of Kang or Ultron. He just seems a little too...unimpressive, I guess. I like him but he feels un-epic.
Oh my god, Canon! *masturbates furiously*

Bendis must try hard to make him a formidable opponent

I dont think the Hood himself will be, but the potential for a big gang of villains is good.
I say, why not!
A Demonic Gangster Villain? Satisfies all fronts from the streetes to the paranormal...bring him on!
And, I still need to read his mini!
i think he might be a nuisance for Daredevil to beat up every once in awhile; eventually.
Remember, people. These Avengers, according to Bendis, can be stalemated by Ninjas. If Bendis says the Hood is a legit Avengers foe, he is. Even if he isn't.
I'm just waiting for the Hood-Blue Streak teamup issue. (For younger readers, Blue Streak was the guy with jet-powered roller skates.) The New Avengers will really have their hands full then.

It depends on whether future writers will like what Bendis does with him in the Avengers titles. So far I think he can prove formidable since he has a lot of potential but it's still far too early to definitely say if it'll work or not.
He hasn't really even assembled his team yet so it's best to wait for his whole arc to play out but if he can duke it out with Wolverine and live to tell about it then he's going do pretty well for himself if he plays his cards right and increases in power both as a power base and in using his demonic abilities with the Cloak.

I didn't vote because I think it is too soon to tell...I mean he's only faced Wolverine and did fairly well...I don't think he can take the New Avengers but maybe he'll put together a strong team of villians or something.
I haven't seen enough of him to form an educated guess type opinion one way or the other.
Then read his mini (in Hardback, since softcover and singles are expensive right now) and BEYOND! to get agood idea of how this character works.
I voted yes.
...oh come on, just look at my avatar!
anyways, I voted 'yes' because with the New Avengers, I think he could do some damage. He doesnt try to gloat or do anything stupid, he gets you in a corner, and shoots you in the crotch.
He also plans ahead, and can even get good ideas on the spot.
also, he's a sneaky summab*** and uses that to his advantage.
when he does get some villains and thugs working for him, He's not gunna hole himself up. He's gonna make himself known.
now, if this were the Mighty 'vengers, eh. Id still say 'yes', but would need to see him recruit soem serious fire-power.
like Dragon Man, Klaw, Titania, Chemistro, someone who could take on the Sentry (or at least attack while the Sentry's in session) and a coupla other heavy hitters in the Bad guy circles.
He can prove formidable if the current writer says he can prove formidable. He has the same potential as any other character in the MU, in that the writer decides what that potential is, and the writer is god.
More to the point, Bendis has decided to push yet another inane idea as a fantastic, original concept. He did precisely the same thing with "Mansuit Ronin," and he still hasn't let go of it despite the fact that it was one of the most idiotic ideas I've ever seen in comics.
Future Avengers writers are going to throw the Hood and Mansuit Ronin right in the trash can where they belong.
And again, the Hood survived a throwdown with Wolverine because Bendis wrote that he survived. I personally think it's a bad (but hilarious) joke that "the Hood" is being plumped as a legitimate challenge for the Avengers, but to each his own.He hasn't really even assembled his team yet so it's best to wait for his whole arc to play out but if he can duke it out with Wolverine and live to tell about it then he's going do pretty well for himself if he plays his cards right and increases in power both as a power base and in using his demonic abilities with the Cloak.
My generation had Ultron and Korvac, and yours has Ninjas and The Hood.

I said yes. There's a huge mystery about how Parker's powers work still IMO and I believe the mystical/ demonic aspect of his powers will slowly be unravelled.
I have more evidence for the hood being a viable threat.
