I first thought of Hellboy when I saw this too, not that it's a bad comparison mind you, Hellboy's a classic.

At first it did sound a little Hellboy-ish, but reading the whole interview seems to indicate something very different. Personally, I think it sounds better than "Hellboy."
I love the idea of avoiding magic, but still having a fantasy element too it. Very cool idea.
I'll definitely pick it up.
