Let me start by adding that I'm dropping Amazing SM because .... well just because. Spidey picking his old, geezer of an aunt over his super hot model of a wife just seems so farfetched it's ridiculous. Oh well.

Will this retcon mean that Spidey isn't with the New Avengers anymore?

Is he now back at Class 10 (as opposed to Class 20)?

The fact is though, even when he was upgraded powerwise on multiple occasions, most people wrote Spidey as kind of a class 10 guy anyways.

He's still a character that occasionally dips into the street level stuff. Plus, none of his rogues were really upgradd powerwise with him.

Though I do think it's kind of cheap that all his upgrades (and JMS's entire run in general) were just magically removed, odds are for the most part we won't be able to tell the difference.

I don't see how this is possible with what the first issue said. He hasn't been Spider-Man for 10 months. How could he be on NA?

Seems to me that the whole "which among us might be a Skrull" drama with them is now TOTALLY unexplainable.

I mean if they can't remember why they didn't conclude Spidey was a Skrull, what motive exists in their head now for him still being around? I mean even Dr. Strange isn't supposed to know who he is now, mucheless those other paranoid heroes.

Its a bloody mess is what it is. Bendis' original story was already kind of ridiculous and this just made it ten times worse.

official handbook of the marvel universe - even marvel.com may have some of the info from the handbook posted to its sight. Class 10 meant that he could lift/press 10 tons (in perspective Thor/Hulk are class 100+)

Bendis with his decompressed storytelling, combined with Marvel's quick shoe horn of OMD means this may not be resolved for months.

In all seriousness, they could make spidey in black a Skrull and that would solve a lot of problems (quesada already took care of the fact, like it or not, that no one remembers his secret identity).

His altered night vision, enhanced Spidey sense, ability to use the web to sense stuff, etc. has been SO totally forgotten apparently they don't manifest anymore, even though the stuff that caused them to appear "still happened", and thus he must have them.

Apparently he also has a new superpower of being a really easily confused dumbass. I mean he must, to explain why he has a memory which must surely be like Swiss cheese now and doesn't wonder about it.

I kind of think or hope) that Spidey will be in his black costume until after SI. He could have his absence after that. Except if this is all a trick, and he is revealed to be a skrull in his spotlight issue.

Pretty much just in the issue it was disclosed that he had it.

That said, its still interesting that he supposedly has them but doesn't know he has them.

The night vision was the most wasted in the months after they insisted he now had it. I mean it seems like he'd be using it CONSTANTLY. Its unconscious, automatic, and in your face everytime he's in darkness.

And how could he "forget" he has night vision? How is that even possible?

The way I understand it, which could be incorrect, in the recent past Spiderman was with the Avengers, but after the Mephisto deal happened, everyone now thinks that he has been missing for all of that time.

Personally I think they should have had the reveal just be a fake out. It's cliched, btu deals with the devil aren't any better IMO.

I took it to mean that Spidey hasn't been seen for awhile, but has been lying low with the rest of the avengers, and just not really throwing his face out there.


Bendis has said on many occasions that Spidey is staying with the NA. He was apparently part of the OMD brain trust (or at least consulted) so Im sure he has something up his sleeve to at least try and make sense of the continuity. Although the first thing had better be the NA knowing his identity.
