Cmon, it's a typical shonen plot device to get the rival to act as the main opposition to the main character. The rival is always the jealous and power thirsty one.

It would be a good direction, but obviously it won't be like Sasuke though.

Sasuke isn't the first to use this sterotype.

but yes, like dark said, gray is nothing like sasuke. like one piece, fairy tail's core message is "i love my nakama". no one in the guild is like that, (not counting kana who i'm still sore on) and no one would betray the guild for power. gray is natsu's rival. its true but they are more like brothers than anything. they fight but they'd die for each other at the drop of a hat. similar to zoro/sanji. they cant get along for shit but they have each other's back, no question.

so once again, you make idiotic blanket comments without any understanding of the character you are talking about.

Yeah, I like this chapter. Gray is one hardcore bastard and actually got Ultear to resort to a type of magic she obviously must hate using.

Actually, this chapter makes both combatants pretty awesome. Gray being tough but not overwhelming aka streamroll his opponent with power and Ultear for not being all talk as well as doing enough damage that I can believe she's strong and isn't going down like a chump.

Ah, Mashima needs to do more of this. A nice chapter, well paced, good artwork, great fight, and a desperate plan that actually feels like a reasonable, interesting trump card instead of a complete asspull or Nakama power.

Got to hand it to Ultear. She was wise enough to become proficient in more than one type of magic. So she has a backup power in case someone found a loophole through her time manipulation (eg. Azuma's plant magic)

You don't like me that much do ya? I'm not trolling, you are trolling because your being unresonable towards my honest opinion.

BTW, Naruto and Sasuke are brothers. And yes, most rivals have a strong bond with the main character as friends and rivals. I already said Grey is nothing like Sasuke.

Juvia is hilarious, Gray is boss and Ur has a trick up her sleeve.You just described a character that is nothing like Gray. But then again I should only expect people that actually read the manga to know what Gray's like.

I'm just saying, it would create more suspense if Gray tipped towards the anti heroic side of this story like Vegeta, Sasuke and Rukawa have been to Goku, Naruto and Sakuragi in thier stories.

Grey is kinda to calm and stoic as it is.

And finally, sasuke was kinda like grey all the way back in part 1, where he was more sacraficial and kind to his friends without revenge as his drive.
