well, this filler arc looks interesting

I'd be enjoying it more if Gray weren't either:
a) What's-her-face's mind slave due to an offscreen defeat, or

I've been looking at the list in anime news network. And it seems that he's not present. Does anyone have news on whether Hiro Mashima survived and is well?

I saw Fairy Tail listed on ANN as one of the mangas that posted inspirational post-tsunami material in a doujinshi book, which means Mashima is ok.

Edit: Here's the story. Any names listed are obviously people who survived.

He was all over the place. I thought the part where Lucy took his doll and started smacking him was funny. Kinda neat that he turned it around since his hair being on the doll was actually beneficial to him. Good to see Scorpio used, even if for only a few panels.

Natsu and Lucy team up against Urtear and Kain. Interesting match, though I'm sure a lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment since Natsu + Lucy = potential for massive character shield.

Every anime handled it differently. Fairy Tail aired one day later than usual. Korewa and Dragon Crisis are being postponed to an unknown date.

It probably depended on if the production was slowed by the earthquake, or it they had enough of a buffer to keep going in spite of the earthquake, or it the shows timeslot wasn't preempted by emergency coverage.

So far I have found a few of the 7 kin a little disappointing, which I guess some were bound to be. But really if feels that if it wasn't for Master Hades and Ultear, they would be quite lacking in firepower. Though Rustyrose was pretty good too just for the shear brokenness of his ability.

Lucy fan-service always works for me.

I thought that Kain's ability was a pretty clever twist on the whole voodoo doll thing, and the dude him was entertaining with his inconsistent personality.

Though I'm a bit disappointed in seeing Lucy just going for the old throw out stellar spirit and hope that it works tactic. She really needs to get better at using them strategically.

I LOLed at the hilarious convenience of Lucy and Natsu's fights running into each other like that.

Something tells me that Ultear is gonna split so that she can cuddle more with Zereff thus leaving Lucy, Natsu and Happy to beat up Kain.

And I'm very interested in the title of the next chapter. "Fire Lucy"? Should be fun.

I didn't expect Kain to have such an interesting power. To use a vodoo doll is a common power of many villains. But to use a vodoo doll one oneself, and changing its properties to make one stronger is something I haven't seen before.

I wonder what will happen now.

Hey now. Azuma has taken out several Fairy Tail members all on his own and Zancrow was winning against Natsu until main character shields kicked in.

Zoldeo on the other hand totally sucked. But that's mainly wasted story potential I say. Biggest flaw this arc has been Caprico being possesed.

See! It's not just me who can't stand it. And its not just mind numbing, its totally weird. That single forum attracts the single highest concentration of perpetual moaners in manga fandom for some reason. You can go here, to animeboards, to mangastreams forums, to animesuki, etc etc and the proportion will be much more in favor of people who enjoyed the chapters most of the time.

Same thing with Naruto. A lot of complaining and calling the Ninja War horrible over there. Same thing with Bleach; large proportion of people calling the new arc boring and wanting to see Shinigami Bankai's again.

It really does perplex me.
