Not a lot happened in this chapter. But I kinda liked what did happen.

Now, Ultear's story is not really a good one, it needs more fleshing out and attention IMO as this just seems to be going through the standard motions. But there are good aspects of it and if this really is her end it's one of those aspects. It's a good sacrifical play.

And while it feels a bit pointless now I do appreciate that we were shown that the mages were all overwhelmed by the dragons. I just hope that the big dragons won't be defeated quickly in a display of ultimate uber-attacks following one another.

Lastly, I really like how the time magic is displayed here. I like that when compared to the unimaginably massive flow of the abstract concept that is time one human life is just so tiny. It's quite frankly miraculous that one life was able to push everything in the entire world back a single minute. That I liked and I kinda wonder how some people all over the world took advantage of that one minute of precognition.

Come to think of it, Time Magic is kind of a theme for this arc, starting from the Time Skip, to the Spirit World screwing Fairy Tail over, to the Eclipse Gate (which shows the kind of ridiculous levels of power you need to store up in order to just open a door through time much less actually undo events), to Ultear's sacrifice. I'm wondering if this is leading up to some sort of singularity or something.

I noticed the Time-theme of this arc as well. I have to admit I like the way Fairy Tail has handled it.

I also like that Ultear dies believing she didn't save anyone. Sort of seems like karmic punishment, like her crimes don't give her the luxury of dying happy/guilt-free. I also liked the way several characters die, so it both feels like a struggle and it makes her spell more relevant to the tide of battle.
