New chapter is out.
Future-Lucy tells the gang about what's going to happen and how she got there but there's something she isn't telling them.
And Rogue is about to get some help from an odd kind of ally. Which would be a fine twist to how his powers work except that it's probably going to be an evil power-up which will mean that he'll lose anyway because evil is bad.
How long do you think it'll be before someone shops that last page into saying, "I am a Shadow, the true self?"
I wonder what's up with that shadow.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Aw, the S-class monster barely did anything in the anime either...

"Gendou is probably the least whiny, but... well, let's just say that his reaction was probably not quite as healthy as a good whine."

I thought the overall presentation of the thing was nice though. Lots of stills used early on, but not super cheap throughout. Overall a pretty nice expansion considering how little we saw in the manga.
Really like the new OP. It spoils the team condensing, but that seems par for the course for FT OP's. At least non-readers don't know why they condensed.
"It's your parting gift. In that it will part you; part of you over here, part of you over there, part of you way over there, staining the wall!" Lord Shen
Agreed, seeing the way they stretch out or outright alter certain fight scenes gives me hope for the Dragon Slayer Battle. Especially with that opening.
I thought that episode was decent enough for a fight episode. Though it wasn't my dream version of the thing (Natsu vs. Zero-quality animation and full-length episode expansion) it had stuff I liked. Especially the bit where uses weapons that don't entirely match her armor. It's a fair bit clever. Also the reveal of the S-class monster was cool.
New opening is kind of sudden. The previous one didn't last for long.

Gajeel takes a page from Natsu's playbook. And it. is. GLORIOUS! Though given how those shadow flames corrupted Rogue, I dont know yet if that's a good idea in the long run.
This was probably the best chapter in a while.
We also get a revelation about Gajeel's past and why it is Rogue is so intent on beating him.

Rogue's real neam is Raios and he used to be Gajeel's disciple.
Interesting twist that I wasn't expecting, and I didn't think Gajeel would be able to do what he did, so it reveals a deeper potential for all dragonslayers not just Natsu.

On the plus side this chapter has nice fighting coreography and interesting revelations about Rogue and Gajeel's relationship and the situation at the castle is moving along nicely.
On the negative end though I can't help but wish that this level of ability was what Rogue had from the get-go rather than needing a power-up to for it, hopefully he'll stay at this level once this is over. And it kind of completely ignores that Rogue can activate dragonforce on his own since he didn't seem to have used it in this fight.
Eugh. The dragon slayer tag team fight messed things up so badly.
