Blink Appreciation

So when does Blink officially appear back in comics? Not an "Exiles Blink", although I did like the badassery shown with AoA Blink pre-Exiles (in Exiles she seemed...weaker...more timid).

I've been waiting a long time to see a writer handle how a 616 Blink would act/perform in battle. Necrosha disappointed me, but was nice to see her "limbo" treated. (all mutants are "immune" to their own powers, right?) She did seem to have a "greater" control over her powers though? Maybe something she learned during limbo?

In New Mutants a couple months from now. Issue 33 I think? Maybe 34.


So glad to see her being brought back. She's a great character, she deserves to be used. And since a new Exiles series seems unlikely, I'll take my Blink where I can get her.

I've been thinking of late about who Scott Lobdell might have intended Blink’s parents to be, as I imagine many were dissatisfied with her being an ancestor of Apocalypse.

There are some potential candidates, such as:
>Aurora: Jeanne-Marie Beaubier was born in Montreal, Quebec and in UXM 316, the first part of the Phalanx Covenant, Blink’s hometown seems to be placed in Quebec, Canada (Lobdell did write Alpha Flight after all so may have intended a link here);
>Gambit (the energy darts) and Lila Cheney (interstellar teleportation);
>Given her “Blink” powers, was she going to be connected to the M’Kraan Crystal (interesting that her skin was the same colour as Jahf and she had “crystalline” facial tattoos). We never did find out who the race were that lived in the city within the Crystal (at least not back then).

Then there’s the similarity of appearance between Blink and Marrow (the two could perhaps be siblings since both throw darts they draw from their own bodies, one from their mutant energy, the other from bone).

Does anyone have any cool theories of their own?

So, Synch, Skin, Banshee and technically Jubilee are all dead (undead in Jubilee's case). And yet Blink is alive?

Yeah, apparently she didn't die during the arc, but was stuck in interdimensional limbo (or something like that) until Selene freed her right before Necrosha.

Has anybody seen her appearance in the preview for next week's New Mutants #41? She is really stealing the show! I liked her in the NM arc a few months ago, but can't get enough of her new personality in this issue, can't wait!

Haven't had time to buy the issue yet, but I'm gonna guess on a theory here. She felt really guilty about her time with Selene and decided to go cross country performing heroic acts after having Selene's taint exorcised by Dr. Strange. She did this for a few months and helped the New Mutants take down the supernatural death metal band. While working with the team didn't really go smoothly because she has been devoid of healthy human interaction for a veeeeeery long time, she felt a connection with them and debt to them for their assistance. As complicated as their life is, she decided to camp out at the Jean Grey School to clear her head for a while and take some down time, but she really didn't know anybody there and after having a taste for adventure for so long, was bored out of her mind. After being pent up for a few weeks, she raids Wolverine's liquor supply, gets sloshy drunk happy, and tracks down the only people she knows to show her appreciation by helping pick them up from their funk. She also does some x and decides that partying is the best way to avoid her posttraumatic stress disorder from her past.

Why pick one theory when you can combine them all?

Not entirely sure b/c I stopped reading Exiles halfway through the first series, but I believe she is still with the Exiles and is running the show from the Crystal Palace. She hasn't appeared since 2009.

So...Clarice appeared in New Mutants for a few issues...disappears...comes back for one issue...disappears again? Was anything explained after her "happy-go-lucky" episode in NM?

I picked up one of the NM issues that looked like it was dealing with Asgardian gods, and quickly put it down when I didn't see Blink. Was really hoping to get to see her consistently.
