    Default Superbad is super good!

Superbad was a really fun movie, although it is true what they say, that these Apatow films are sorta formulaic.

They're GOOD formula films, but they still do follow a pretty strict formula.

    "Endearing dick jokes"

I thought it was weird that Jonah Hill was the star of the film. I was expecting it to be Cera, and I think they'd be better off if it WAS Cera, because

    A. He acts circles around Hill

    and

    B. His character is more likeable.

    Did you dig Superbad?!?!

    Hell yeah, Bri-man!

This movie was about 50 times funnier than I thought it would be, and I don't know if I thought that Jonah Hill was the star, as there were some moments where it was pretty clearly split between the two, although he did get the better lines and did have a lot of the screen time. The runaway scene-stealer was DEFINITELY McLovin though, as he was killing everyone in the theatre when I saw it. When he utters that one line at the party (you know which one I'm talking about), the entire audience, including myself, had to stop and applaud.

Not quite as much heart as Knocked Up, but it was an intelligent teen sex romp that makes American Pie eat its dust.

Yeah, it really makes other teen movies look like, "Wait? We're allowed to be funny ALL the way through? NO WAY!"

    And yeah, McLovin was amazing.

The casting was just spot on in the film, especially the roles of the female love interests. Hard thing to cast (so easy to just cast attractive girls, rather than good actresses).

There's definitely that, but there's also... how do I put it without spoiling anything... well, there's a tendency that pops up in Apatow's films where the characters have to interact in ways that are uncomfortable or even heart-breaking, but they do it and get through it, and face up to the inevitable, rather than having some ridiculous plot twist bail them out. I noticed the same thing in Knocked Up and definitely on Freaks and Geeks, the best teen show ever.

...Weird, I tried posting this and it didn't work for a bit. Damn board glitches.

And yeah, the female roles were perfect as well. I love it when they cast people who can actually ACT.

Great movie. Saw it about a month ago. Raunchy, hilarious, memorable characters, especially McLovin, er... Fogell and the cops, and despite seeming like just a disgustingly hilarious movie, there were a lot of layers to it. And it felt like a much more realistic transitionary tale of highschool students getting ready for college than that shitfest "American Pie."

Regardless of how good it is, I just know I'm going to be sick and tired of hipsters quoting it by the end of the year.

My friends and I just saw it Friday, and we're already tried of hearing everybody quote it.

But yes it was a very enjoyable film.

Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin and Superbad are, without any question of any kind, are the funniest movies of the last 15 years or so. Even if Judd Apatow makes shitty movies for the rest of his career, his record as of now is unimpeachable. Ridiculously funny.

Loved it. Consistently funny, and refused to sell out at the last minute, unlike most teen comedies. The whole subplot with the cops seemed a bit too unbelieveable, but otherwise, it was pretty much flawless.

As I said over in Rita's, I enjoyed it. Apatow (and his proteges) certainly knows how to write a guy comedy that doesn't alienate females. If fact he respects them like very few filmmakers, for that I love the guy. However, the cop stuff almost completely unnecessary. There were some laughs, of course, because Rogan's brilliant, but there were kind of empty laughs in the greater scheme of things. Oh well, it's still a whole lot better than 95% of the crap out there.

Believe in God, the soul, the spirit, the infinite, believe in angels if you like, but not in the great celestial get-together for an exchange of views. Saw it on Saturday night and loved it.

I actually loved the cop scenes BECAUSE they were ridiculous. It was kind of a nice counter-point to the more down-to-earth (comparably so) storyline that Seth and Evan were involved in. Loved the funky soundtrack too.

    Loved the movie.

One of my favorite parts was the scene in the room with the cocaine.

    spoilers:

Evan/Michael Cera being mistaken for some guy's brother and forced to sing had me laughing quite hard.
