Default Ron Marz made me cry.

I read Scion as it came out. When the book first came out I was around Ethan's age. I liked it, and it resonated with me somewhat because he was coming of age as I was. However at the end of the day I was more interested in the art and writing then I was in internalizing the themes of the book.

Now that I am in my late twenties, I reread the entire run again a few days ago. Being older, if not wiser, I felt the story in ways I never could when I was young. I went through an emotional roller coaster of crying when Ator died to being enraged when Yelena was forced to marry and sleep with Bron. It was a truly magical experience, one that I never had reading a comic before, and I just wanted to thank Ron for it, even if it is seven years too late.

I'm very glad I made you cry.

(Quite nice of you to say, Lester.)

In all fairness, Lester cries when the seasons change. ;)

I'm now reading Sojourn for the first time since 2004. Ron I didn't even get past the first issue without crying. As a young man I loved your work but now that I'm a little over 30 I also appreciate it. In Sojourn there is a real level of pathos and gravitas to the book in this wonderful fully fleshed out fantasy world. You, Greg and everyone else did an amazing job.

Thanks, Lester. CrossGen was fun while it lasted.

Hope you and yours had a great holiday.

Don't think it just your Crossgen work that has moved me emotionally. Your Witchblade stuff has also done the trick but I was in my late 20s when you started your run so I was emotionally ready for it. Not so when you were in Florida.

Ron makes me cry on a regular basis, but for reasons completely unrelated to the pathos or gravitas of his writing;)

Also Crossgen was not fun. I can't imagine what it was like to relocate your family to Florida and not get paid for your work but that sounds like a nightmare to me. I felt like a real evil bastard when I realized that I spent thousands of dollars supporting what tuned out to be a huge con job only I was the beneficiary rather than the victim having gotten what I consider to be an extreme value for what I paid for.

I still don't regret the CrossGen experience, only the way it ended ... and in hindsight, the way the business end of it was run. Creatively, it was pretty enjoyable, and living in Florida and working in the same studio with a bunch of your closest friends was damn cool.

Believe me, your support was appreicated, both then and now. I just wish most of my CG trades didn't get destroyed in a basement flood...

If you're still in Florida, hit up some Tampa shops some time ;). I loved your run on Green Lantern. I started as Kyle was starting to mature and kind of fell out of the loop around the time you left the series. Very nice work.

As of a couple years ago Ron moved. I think the whole hurricane season disagreed with him. I want to say he moved to New York, but being a fan and not a stalker I'm not sure.
