Not just any mullet, but a flaming mullet of infinite consciousness and telekinetic godhood! :D

Besides, every X-team had someone sporting mullets back then... Longshot, Bishop, Warren. Ray's the only lady who could rock it tho. <3 <3

Rachel's hair never grew out due to the Hound conditioning. They did something to keep her hair short.

Eh, I didn't care for it. I liked the shaved look she had when she first appeared, and then when she looked like a new kid with the rat tail. HATED TEH MULLETS. Never a good hair style on ANYONE.

Where'd you get that from? She had no rat tail when she first came to the 616, but just before she went all Phoenix-y, she developed the rat-tail, which blossomed into her rancid Excalibur mullet. Seems like she had hair growth to me, she just kept it business up front, with the party in the back.

True enough... though I liked what Davis did with the visual when Ray was amped up. His depiction of the Phoenix power signature is still the more visually inspiring one to this day imo.

As far as Marvel Girl incarnations, I think I liked Davis' HOM outfit best... midrifts are so skank. The bob had to go though, I think Ray (finally) needs to grow her hair out... I'd like something along the lines of Ryan's Cable run hair with the Davis dress best I think, providing she's to return to the X-Men as "Marvel Girl".

Er, I don't think that's true... I always remember Rachel commenting on wanting the short hair, to reflect her (attempted) tough appearance?

Hurray! Ray has her own thread!

I liked the mullet (at least, I did back in the 80s).

Really? I liked it, but Amara was my favorite new mutie back then!

Yeah I liked it to. Selene rocked in it. Always liked the Selene/Ray/Amara stuff. It payed off it in a big way too which was cool.

So if, we could stick Ray on an X-team next summer, what would everyone prefer? Ellis' more widescreen epic Astonishing (likely with Scott, Emma, Logan and/or Kitty)? Cornell's more sci-fi humorous Excalibur (likely with Brian and Wisdom)? Carey's... uh... possibly happening X-Force (hopefully with Nathan and Rogue)? Or should we throw her back to Brubaker (at least she'd be with Wallpapercrawler)?

I'd stick her with Ellis since he's probably going to get Nightcrawler and keep Scott and Emma so there is more history for her there. Also, if Kitty dies then it'd serve to replace her in the role of the anti-Emma chick which is almost a requisite these days and if Kitty doesn't die, well then there's even more of a reunion factor. He also seems to be aiming for something more edgy and less retro, which would suit Rachel way more than Brubaker.

No opinion on Cornell since I haven't read his stuff.

I'd prefer Rachel to be in Carey's book, whatever that is. My guess that it's going to be X-Force, and the sort of young rebels of the X-Men, so that would work for her.

Maybe eventually she could turn up in Astonishing (I hope that there are more guest appearances by the rest of the X-Men in Ellis' run), but I'm hoping Carey can rehab her character first. Although I would like Rachel to still be best friends with Kitty, I'd rather not have Astonishing be more of Rachel vs Emma.
