    Default Whats Wrong with Boomer?

I just read somewhere that Tony Stated that Boomer isn't on the new outsiders(which was obvious anyways) but apparently Tony said that even if Boomer was an option he doesn't like him and wouldn't want him on the team?

I mean Aquaman is the new one, but in general has always sucked, so I have no hope for the guy, catwoman hasn't had any credibility for years and isn't a good good guy, yet he is willing to work with them(and Katanna too) and yet has some kind of hate for Boomer.

I guess I don't see why the Tony could hate such a well written and enjoyable character so much.

It also has me worrying what he plans to do to ruin the Boomer/supergirl friendship with his short run on the title.

so it be nice to hear from tony what the guy do to you?

Aquaman's a great character, DC just treats him like ass. More than Wonder Woman, who's been treated like ass more than anyone, lately. Catwoman hasn't had credibility in years? Have you read her series at all, especially the Brubaker and Cooke run?

Boomer's brand-new; barely, what, three years old? All of his "credibility" comes from a rather lackluster run on the book Tony's replacing. The character's been a complete mess since his conception, and nothing's been done to hit the major points of his original characterization since: son of a villain, technical "orphan," time-travelling half-brother of Impulse, kinda' sorta' has superspeed sometimes, maybe.

If Tony doesn't think he could do anything with the character, why bother including him? Let someone who wants to use him use him. Maybe Waid will have him show up in The Flash.

I can't speak for Tony, but what turned me off the character was his convoluted history, which Jack has so graciously briefly recapped.

Wait a minute, if Tony says he isn't an option (which I presume to mean that editorial said no), why are you griping at him?

Did you read the rest where I talked about how he said even if he was an option he doesn't like him so he wouldn't use him. That is what my gripe is with not the fact that hes not being used, but the fact he gave no reason for not liking the guy and treated him like crap by saying so.

You are aware that Captain Boomerang isn't real, right?

You know, it might help if you actually quoted something specific. "I read somewhere..." followed by your own paraphrase just doesn't cut it.

Owen is the son of Digger, the original Captain Boomerang, and Meloni Thawne, Bart Allen' mother. In Johns' run on The Flash, Captain Boomerang winds up in the 31st or 30th Century with amnesia and Meloni Thawne finds him. They never explain when she has him (if it's after Don Allen, her husband, Bart's father, Barry Allen's son, dies; or if it's before they meet, and long before Bart's born), or how he makes it back to the present, or how he has superspeed, since Meloni doesn't have superpowers.

I've always really liked the character since he came along. However, I never stopped, until it was pointed out here, to think about his history. What's the real back story? Are we talkin' Boomers on Infinite Earths here?

Hey, I don't HATE Boomer. I'm just kind of indifferent to him.

And there are plans for him -- he's actually got some very cool stuff in his future.

We've all got our faves and we've all got characters we couldn't care less about. That says more about ourselves than about the characters, since I believe there are no bad characters.

Now, I love Aquaman, for no particular reason. I just do. Even the new Aquaman. So there. :)

The trick will be to see if you can make him work in a team book. I always felt he was out of place in that context.

The new Aquaman? Hasn't had much time to team up. Well, there was that arc in Action by Busiek where he's captured by The Auctioneer. I think he could work, more than Orin-Aquaman, mainly because he won't be such a dick. There's only enough room in The Outsiders for one dick, and that's Batman.
