As for Father Wrath, he will be making a come back. You can't keep a good evil priest down, afterall.

Hack/Slash is one of the few series I try to get on a regular basis since it actually shows people able to fight back with brains. I think the team dynamic between Cassie and Vlad works really well.

My one fear by the mention of the return of Father Wrath is the series may get into the old comic book cliché of dead becoming too much of a joke because no one stay dead. Following the old slasher movies like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm Street the first few were fine, but after the villain return for the hundredth time after being vanquished it got kind of old. One thing I liked about this series is even slashers have rules they must abide by. Of course, I don't mind the occasional character returning, just so it is done well.

Nah, don't worry. This isn't a corporate superhero book, so deaths/resurrections, etc, won't be treated like a corporate superhero comic.

Just finished reading issue #3. I enjoyed it.

    spoilers:
For some reason, it didn't surprise me that Elvis practice dark magic to gain his talent and fame. It's nice to see good things happen for Vlad. I guess losing your virginity to a drunken groupie is better than a hooker. So much cheaper.

Another great issue Tim. Pooch has to be the creepiest-looking thing I've seen in any Hack/Slash story to date! Also, the reveal of agent (something I hadn't even considered) was a nice touch.

I'm loving that the series gives a chance to build on the supporting cast & that we have time to find out more about Cassie & Vlad as people (interesting that the theme of sexuality was brought up in both of their storylines, with surprising revelations in Cassie's case & hilarious consequences in the "climax" of Vlad's!). I hope future storylines, give you a chance to deal with more issues & round out the characters a bit more.

Any chance of flashback stories revealing more of Cassie & Vlad's formative years as well as their first meeting & few missions (I assume there were at least a couple of cases prior to "Bobby")?

Yeah, I just wanted to give the word of mouth (not to mention Emily Stone) some time to catch up. This way, new people can pikc up the trade, while the people who've been following along can grab the Fango crossover and see me try to draw my own characters. :D

Who's doing a helluva job, by the way. I first encountered her work earlier this year via her website, as linked to from the "Comics Curmudgeon" site (she'd done a drastic reinterpretation of a comic strip character, or cast of characters, the details of which I haven't been awake long enough to even think about recalling right now). When I saw shortly thereafter that she'd be drawing a Hack/Slash ongoing, I was as surprised as I was delighted.

Anyway, H/S is definitely one of my favorite series (even though I'm an old fossil who remembers being traumatized as a kid when cover prices went up to 15 cents). I'd been buying the one-shots since I first encountered one maybe a year & a half ago, then made up for lost time by buying the first TPB. Great stuff. I do definitely prefer the ishes with quasi-realistic art to those with rather cartoonish graphics, & as implied above, Emily's work fits that bill very, very well.
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.
