1. Green Goblin - Just the ultimate villian, evil/insane, found out his identity, went after his family.
2. New Goblin - tore at Peter outside, and also in Peter's heart. Also he was redeemed.
3. Dr. Octopus - Insane, well rounded scary villian.
4. Sandman - A villian willing to do whatever he had to. But he didn't seem to want to hurt anyone.
5. Venom - Brutal villian, but he didn't get enough screen time.Best comic on the market? Avengers Academy

They went for a little more campy feel with Green Goblin and essentially pulled it off, but faltered a couple times. And his outfit was terrible.
Whereas Doc Ock was perfect as a movie villain. Looked awesome.formerly coke & comics

I mean by how much of a threat and danger he is to Spiderman, how evil he is, intelligent, overall the ultimate enemy Spiderman ever fought in the films.

Well, Spider-man took him down like the same day he got his powers. So he looked weak compared to the others.

I personally took "greatest" to consider other aspects (ie- the quality of the performance, and sfx, in addition to the threat thing, which doesn't take into account the execution of the character.) Originally Posted by Toku King

Alfred Molina gave as good a performance as Willem Dafoe did.
the battle sequences were incredible.
the stakes were higher, as his plan would kill millions (the Green Goblin was just a sadistic killer).
his relationship with his tentacles was a cool development, making him more nuts than the comic version, but also insane in a more original way.
The movie Octavius was more sympathetic towards the beginning of the film, which made his eventual downfall/ insanity more tragic, and made him a better and greater character.

I'd say
1. Green Goblin - Ultimately the biggest threat. Made Spiderman his bitch in their final battle, and tried to ruin all that Peter held dear. Incredibly powerful and strong, not to mention immensely smart.
2. Venom - Suave, cunning, he's the Spiderman that went bad. Even killed Harry before his time came, which would've been Spiderman originally.
3. Dr. Octopus - Smart, willing to use humanity against Spiderman, and even physically almost unstoppable. Almost killed millions of people.
4. Green Goblin 2 - Made Peter hurt inside badly, and even almost killed him.
5. Sandman - Most powerful of the bunch.
