You're right, I don't know why I typed that. I guess if you really wanted to stretch the definition, New Avengers Illuminati #1 and Amazing Fantasy#15 are different titles, and pretty central to the story, but that's just rationalization in hindsight.

Still epic, and a great read though.:)

If you want "epic", definitely try last year's Annihilation.

Pick up Captian America - you won't regret it.

I'd also have to suggest Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest which just started, and Nova 1-7.

Actually, pretty much anything having to do with marvel's cosmic side during the last few years: Starlord, Drax, the new Quasar, man its all good stuff!

    Default Recommendations? - SuperHero Titles?

Long time comic reader but just recently getting into "SuperHero" comics due to recommendations from some folks on this and a few other boards. So far it's all been DC and I'm hooked (Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Justice League of America, Blue Beetle, Brave and the Bold).

Now I'm looking for some recommendations for SuperHero tiles from the other side of the road - Marvel.

Any Suggestions? Looking for really good writing (obviously) but also something I don't have to go too far back to get into. Don't mind buying a trade or two...or even buying 15 singles to catch up...I just dont want to have to go back 85 issues too be able to get into the story without being lost.

    Any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks!

I say for sure pick up, the new Marvel Comics Presents, gives you alot of superhero stories all in one book. Also the New Avengers title if you want alot of cool characters with a new story arc starting as of late. Thor also is starting anew and that is going well.

Default New to comics and foums

Hi all as my thread states this is my first post and I am looking for any advice from you guys for some suggestions on some titles. So far in my limited expirence I have pretty much stuck to marvel and I have been prety happy but I am willing to branch out.

This far I have picked up the majority of the Ultime X-Men titles and while I don't think they are the best they do give me my X fix. I have also started to collect some of the Wolverine titles my favorite being the Civil war run both with story and art work. Lastly as my name states I love the cable and deadpool series the artwork and comedy for me is great. Thats pretty much the extent of my knowledge on comics but I do love some graphics novels such as "The Killer"
    which I just picked up.

So hopefully this is a pretty active community so I can be a part of it. Thanks for all the help!

Welcome to comics and welcome to the forums!

Well, since this is the Marvel board, I'll recommend some of the best titles from THIS publisher to come out recently.

Captain America is probably the best ongoing being put out by Marvel today. Not the most action-packed book, but its still an excellent read.

Astonishing X-Men is the best team book. It only comes out bi-monthly, but the dialogue is amazing and John Cassaday's art is beautiful.

The Dark Tower mini-series just wrapped up, so your local shop should still have the issues lying around. It doesn't have anything to do with the "proper" Marvel Universe (if you didn't know, its based on a series of Stephen King novels), but its still the best comic book I've read in a really long time.

Well, those were my few suggestions. Just look around on the boards, you should get some good suggestions on stuff that's out there. Good luck!

Thank you for my first reply :) I hear good things about both of those books and in regard to the DT series, I have already read the books prior to the graphic novles and the ending left a bad taste in my mouth so I prob won't pick that up but thanks for the thoughts

Run. Run the Hell away from here and do not look back.

Also, this thread here: http://forums.comicbookresources.com...d.php?t=180269 has a lot of good suggestions for new readers just breaking into comics. It's a bit long, I wouldn't read anything other than the last ten pages or so.
