Uncanny X-Force; only 5 issues out right now.
Heroes for Hire Vol.3; currently 3 issues out with a fourth coming this week.
S.H.I.E.L.D; currently 6 issues out.
Invincible Iron Man; just pick up #501 and continue. But absolutely consider buying Matt Fraction's entire run later on.

Pretty much any Thunderbolts arc from the last four years or so.
Deadpool Max
Some people love it and some people hate it. I'm one of the former. I don't read Punisher MAX so I can't compare the two, but it certainly does a good job taking themes and characters from the main Marvel Universe and making it fit a more mature setting.
Heroes for Hire is a good read, though it could do with more Elektra
Thunderbolts
Avengers Academy
I am also loving the current Age Of X storyline that has just started in X Men:Legacy and New Mutants.
ELEKTRA*LADY MASTERMIND*DAREDEVIL*ARIEL
Well I can't compete in a debate of issue quotes as due to my comic organization my X-23 issues would be a bitch to pull out so I'll just say that I read the issues, liked them well enough, and I shall continue to read unless when I pick up my pull box at the shop issues 5 and 6 are terrible.

Hi! Ehm well, i have recently started reading comic books and i have encountered a problem. You see, i have ( as many other new readers i guess ) tried to find a good place to start. I cant just buy any random "Iron man" or "Green lantern" comic and just go with it. I want some back story, or at least just a new storyline. The marvel series "civil war" was pretty good, but i did the big mistake ( I think ) in reading "the road to civil war" first (which was the correct place to begin, the paperback contained the appropriate issues of spider-man and the avengers which i was required to read in order to get the story in the right order) but then i bought the comic book called civil war, my local "comic book store guy" told me it was the next in line, i blindly followed his advice and read the whole thing. (Dont take me wrong it was great) but i still felt i needed some missing info, after a bit research i found out that i was supposed to read a whole bunch of stuff in between the #1-7 of the civil war series. So i sort of ruined the whole thing.
You see my problem here? :/ So i hope you could help me find a ok place to start and just a little guidance to get me on the right path :) I only read superhero comics mainly marvel ( Thor, Iron man, doctor strange, cap america or/and the avengers ) or if DC (batman, green lantern, green arrow) i know i have a really commercial choice of heroes here :p but to be honest its the one with the most intimidating villains i like to read as it creates more suspense.
Please help! i dont want to go blindly into this and ruin lots of good comics for nothing.
PS: i live in norway so my comic book stores are limited, so if you please would provide me with a online store address i would be happy :)

Well, I'm still in the process of getting it up, but I've been working on a site to help with this kind of thing for the last year. It won't help as much if the actual publisher collected something in a weird order (like civil war without the crossovers, which are in separate volumes) but it will help for ongoings and figuring out what characters you should be familiar with before an event. Or just following one character (like batman) who has a lot of trades without numbers on the spine.
If you let me know a specific character or event/series to start with, I can try to give you more specific answers.
As for an online store, I tend to use amazon, ebay, half.com, and instock trades for most of my purchases in the usa. I'm not sure if any of those will help, but I've also got amazon international links on my site (but not for norway, they don't apparently have a site for that country.) Still, the UK is closer, right? Hope that helps a little.
I think tales of wonder is in the uk as well.
edit: you can also comment on books at the site if you've got a specific question (like "Should I read the crossover/companion volume before or after this one?")
