Non-mutant team book- New Avengers and Young Avengers

X-book- Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men is excellent, X-Factor is starting soon which will kick ass.

Comedy title- Cable and Deadpool, bay-bay

Detective/Noir/Action title- DAREDEVIL! Bendis' run is amazing, Brubaker's coming on in a few.

A-lister title- Captain America. Just awesome.

Now THAT'S a pull-list. Feel free to try Astonishing X-Men, it has wide appeal. Don't touch Black Panther.

Hello

I'm really starting to get back into comics again, and I need some good series to start my collection ( hardcovers only ).

I need suggestions for five series to get into.

I like mature/adult content stuff, graphic violence and rough language.

Punisher MAX is my first choice.

I am so grateful for some more recommendations.

Supream Power is excellent. It is available in three TPBs.

Basicly it is the story of Superman (only he is called Hyperion) and what happens when he crashes on a more realistic Earth. There is a chain reaction his entry into the world causes creating Flash (or Blur), waking up Wonder Woman (or Zarda), inspireing Batman (or Nighthawk).

It is REALLY good.

Following up on Emma's post, you'd probably like the SUPREME POWER: NIGHTHAWK mini-series. And, since you like PUNISHER MAX, I'd recommend pretty much anything else by Ennis. PREACHER, especially.

Not much of that is available in hardcover, though.

Another great title is Alias, which is just now being released, in an omnibus edition. It is all about Jessica Jones who USED to be a superhero. She quit the hero life after some traumatic incident and is living as a hard on her luck detective. It is probably my favorite thing that Bendis has written. It is a remarkable character study.

For graphic violence and gore, there's also MARVEL ZOMBIES. It's currently coming out as single issues, but I believe a hardcover has been scheduled.

I'd certainly highly recommend Preacher, by Ennis and Dillon, if you can come off the hardcovers only stance. I don't think there's a better series out there for what you're looking for, plus it's dramatic, heroic, intense, and really funny too. Pick up the first trade paperback and see if you don't agree.

Agreed on Supreme Power if you go for superheroes. There's no capes and tights (tight uniforms, no "tights") per se, just super-powered people. I could be mistaken but I believe there is a hardcover for the 18 issue series if it's not already out yet.

Just #1-12. I wouldn't be shocked to see another at some point, though.

I purchased the Supreme power books . The first 10 or so issues were good but it turned into talking heads afterwards.

Something else. SUPREME and SUPREME POWER are different books from different publishers.

Eh, sort of. They both have bits of Superman to them, but they draw on different facets of the character.

SUPREME started off as a '90s "extreme" version of Superman, courtesy of Liefeld. Moore completely rebooted the character and made him a celebration of Silver Age DC characters and concepts. Moore's SUPREME is collected in two trades from Checker Publishing, and is excellent.

SUPREME POWER is a new version of Marvel's old Squadron Supreme characters, who started as a straight-up JLA rip-off (it was a gag by the writers; the same month, they introduced "The Assemblers" in JLA) but were later used by Mark Gruenwald to attempt a more realistic superhero story. That's available in trade, and is something of a classic. SUPREME POWER is JMS's attempt at the same type of story, for a modern audience.

Supreme power is not extreme in any way so i wouldn't buy that if i wanted + graphic violence + rough language or whatever.

But maybe in USA that would be considered to be worse than over here.
