Cable & Deadpool
As I was fairly unfamiliar with many of the heroes in the Marvel U not related with the X-Men or Spidey, Marvel team-Up is a fun book which features old webhead and characters you can 'try out' if you haven't read them before.
...... Nevermind

Thanks guys.... I started on DD again and the current arc is crazy stuff. I just have to pick up two more trades to be completely caught up.
I think I'll give Runaways or YA a shot on thursday. Unfortunetely, I've dropped most of the DC titles on my list so I'm looking for new talent again.
Hmm, They're both just winding up arcs right now. But look at Vaughn's other work, and Heinberg's doing JLA around Crisis.Originally Posted by Dr. Flem
My recommendations:
Astonishing X-Men: The first TPB covering the first six issues is out, and the last few issues should be easy to pick up. The first arc was fantastic, one of the better X-Men stories of the last decade. This current arc is picking up after a slow start. The art is great and the character interaction is great. Just a warning, though: this book is delayed a lot. Ultimate X-Men is good, too, but you need to read some of the previous work.
New Avengers: This title sprung out of Avengers Dissassembled and has been pretty interesting so far. The lineup is full of recognizable names: Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, and a couple of others. If your picking this up, I would recommend the House of M mini and the current Amazing Spider-Man arc as well since they heavily involve the NA. Ultimates is the best Avenger title overall, but I highly recommend trades.
As far as Spider-Man goes, pick up the current Amazing if you like the NA. If you want to see Spidey solo, then wait for the new title coming out in a couple of months. I believe it's called "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man", and its written by Peter David. And Avoid Marvel Knights SM. The current arc is awful. Do pick up the first twelve issues, written by Mark Millar. Its a darker version of Spidey than usual, but I enjoyed it.
I haven't read Daredevil, but I have heard that you pretty much need to read all of Brian Bendis's run to understand it right now. If you like DD, then go ahed and do it. If not, then the DD: Father mini is coming soon.
Fantastic Four just got a good new creative team, so I would try that out.
That's pretty much all of Marvel's important characters there, but I'll add a couple of titles I think you'll like:
Young Avengers: Sort of sprung out of Avengers Disassembled. Written by Allen Heinberg. I'm enjoying the story so far. It's much lighter in tone than New Avengers, and the art is very good. Issue #5 just came out a few weeks ago, so it's easy to catch up.
Cable&Deadpool: If you want a funny, nonserious comic, then this is the best. Hilarious in places, and the interaction between no-nonsense Cable and crazy Deadpool is worth the price of admission.

You definately have to pick up Astonishing X-Men Young and new Avengers. And go ahead and pick up this HOM stuff.
Already reading AXM and NA. Was thinking about getting the house of M mini just to keep up with what's actually going on.
In order...
(1) YOUNG AVENGERS
(2) NEW AVENGERS
(3) IRON MAN
(4) CAPTAIN AMERICA
(5) G.L.A.
I know you said that you dont wanna go near trades but it is a must to get the Alias series and then continue with the Pulse. They are both awesome although is a MAX title so it's bit cooler.
If you want, but you could do what I do and just read the spoilers at the Avengers board save yourself some money.Originally Posted by Dr. Flem
