Post here for recommendations on which Marvel titles to read, where to start for specific characters, or which collected volumes to check out.

Unless it's about one of the below, in which case you should use the linked thread:

    Avengers
    Captain America
    Iron Man
    Spider-Man
    Thor
    X-Men

    Default MERGE: Marvel Recommendations Megathread

You guys should have a recommendation thread like the DC forum. I feel stupid making a single thread just for this but I need the help. ;) Anyway....

These are the only marvel titles that I'm currently picking up on a monthly basis....

    Marvel Ongoing:
    Incredible Hulk
    Astonishing X men
    Amazing Spiderman
    New Avengers
    Daredevil

    Minis:
    DD redemption

I'm thinking of getting back into DD but I'm not too sure. I'd like to add one or two more and no trades if you can help it. I'd rather just start on a new arc or creative team.

Thanks alot guys n' gals. :)

Looks like you've got all the major Marvel titles and characters covered!
If you're looking into getting an extra X-Men title, I'd say try New X-Men or X-Men by Milligan. A lot of people aren't fans of Milligan's team thus far but I've enjoyed it. His run started just 6 issues ago so it'd be easy to start with the run.

EDIT: Hey look, all 3 of us are from Australia...

I think you should start on DD. DD #76 is a new arc which comes out in August but it is the final arc with Bendis and Maleev. The current decalogue arc is actually quite enjoyable even though DD is hardly in it.

New Thunderbolts - New arc with issue #10 in July. Fantastic series so far.

Black Panther - Alot of people don't like this current run. I have really enjoyed it so far. New arc starts with #7 in August.

    Everybody else is asleep. :p

I was never much a fan of any X related titles but Astonishing was great. I'll think about starting up on another if it's highly recommended. I have heard some good things from a mate of mine about New X-Men so I'll look into that.

As for Black Panther... it might be good considering that it's a new series etc. so I'll have a look into this one aswell.

I've heard alot of praise over New Thunderbolts so I'll take that into account.

So that's three I'll have a look at. The chances of me getting back into DD are pretty high. Thanks again guys. Keep em' coming if you've got any more.

Yeah, now I won't miss YA or the New T-Bolts when a new issue hits the stands! Also try out GLA, too fun :D

You, sir, have excellent taste. :)

Runaways, Young Avenegers and GLA are probably Marvel's best books of the moment.

Captain America is a good serious darkly-lit cinematic-like book right now with a spy/men's adventure flavor.

If you like traditional style Marvel comics, try Spider-Girl and New Thunderbolts. They remind me of comics from the 1980s -- a good thing, IMO.

Chris Claremont and Alan Davis have been doing Uncanny X-Men lately, and Alan's two final issues will be released in a couple months. If you want to see the X-Men drawn in a style reminiscent of Neal Adams, check out those comics while you can. (I will probably be dropping the comic from my pull once Alan Davis leaves.)

It's too soon to say whether Paul Smith's Kitty Pryde mini-series or Keith Giffen's Defenders mini-series will be worth getting, but I've added both of those upcoming minis to my pull list.
    Check out my fanzine!
