Exactly. Just because I don't prefer extreme death grunts doesn't mean I can only withstand Perry Como, there are varying shades of "dirty" between the two, from John Lennon/Mick Jagger smokey/bluesy style to Lemmy/Hetfield melodic growls to Anselmo's pseudo melodic grunts. Vocal stylings with not even a hint of melody just tend to be a shade too far for me.
I can also appreciate bands that juxtapose soft melodic singing with death grunts, Opeth being a good example. There just has to be something there to offset the sheer animal brutality, otherwise it tends to wear me down quickly.
