    Default 52 Week 26 (***SPOILERS***)

mazingman728's spoilers from the DC Forum

Cover has the Black Marvel Family and the Sivana Family. There is a red silhouette of a monsters hand down the middle with the Black Marvel Family in it with “The Beast who came to dinner” near the hand. In a green tint on the right hand side is Junior and Georgia, on the bottom is Magnificus and Beautia and Venus is on the left.

The ticker at the bottom reads “Who are the Questions Friends …The Sivana Family: Beauties or Beasts…”

The Origin of Hawkman by Waid and Joe Bennett. However in the book it is the Origin of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. The origin takes them from ancient Egypt to modern day in St. Roch, LA.

The solicitation quote for this issue reads as follows: "How altruistic can you be when you're funded by LexCorp?" This takes place during “You are Wrong” with Steel and Natasha.

    Week 26, Day 1
Himalayas: The Black Marvel Family drops off the Question and Renee in the Himalayas per their request. Both are thanked by the BMF and told that they are always welcome in Kahndaq. Isis tells Renee that she hopes that she finds the answers she is looking for. When Renee replies that the only answer she wants is how to keep Intergang out of Gotham, Isis tells her that perhaps she is asking “the wrong question. Who are you Renee Montoya” and then creates a rose and hands it to Renee. After the BMF leave, Renee and Charlie are met by Tot and Richard Dragon.***I think that this is who we see on the cover of Week 32 and not Ralph***

    Week 26, Day 2
Metropolis: Jack Ryder is going off on the bloodbath that took place in Metropolis two week’s ago with the new Justice League. Jack’s first guest is Steel who blames the whole thing on Lex Luthor for giving out powers to anybody who wants them. Jack then brings out a surprise guest, Natasha Irons. Natasha is pro-Everyman Project and states why she approves of the project. Natasha then leaves quickly when she is told through her earpiece that there is an explosion at Hob’s Bay.

    Week 26, Day 4
Sivana House: Junior and Georgia are using their fathers Suspendium Globe to go back in time. Junior wants to go back to the first grade and stop himself from wetting his pants and Georgia wants to go back in to second grade and tell herself to get braces. Waverider then appears in the globe and says “I know why.” And then the globe goes “BOOOM”! The two are then called up-stairs for a dinner party. When they leave you see a crocodile creature in the shadows. Venus goes to the door to greet the BMF. Venus tells the BMF about Thaddeus Sivana’s disappearance. Black Adam tells her that he made it clear that they were not friends. Venus then tells Adam and Isis that she donated $20 Million to Kahndaq’s Children’s Hospital and too consider helping her family.

Oolong Island: More fun with Baron Bug having a malfunctioning mechanical bug, Manitchine…a giant robot praying mantis. The scientists find out that a female scientist has just arrived. The female is Doctor Cale who is there to help with the DNA problem they are having with the Four Horsemen Project. When she asks if any of them have a spare Restructive Enzyme Sequencer, the scientists start toss her theirs and offering her their workspace. ***a nice error, or is it, is a panel with Magnus and Morrow where Morrow mentions to Magnus “…I knew a girl once, Morrow” in which Magnus replies “and?” “…I just knew one once”. It’s odd that Morrow would be calling Magnus Morrow.***

Sivana House: During the dinner Osiris gets upset that they are being bought by a donation to find somebody that they should be fighting. He says that he needs friends and flies out the door. Once he leaves the crocodile figure you see jump out and onto the table ***part of that panel is what you say last week in the “Next in 52” panel*** The crocodile busts through some walls and leaves. Osiris is shown sitting in the Sivana’s garden and the crocodile figure shows up and tells Osiris not to hurt him. The crocodile mentions that he was taken from the Nile River and kept in the dungeon where Sivana experimented on him causing him to grow hands and start walking upright. Osiris asks him if he has a name and when he is told he doesn’t Osiris asks if he wants one.

Next in 52 shows a giant left hand palm with Ralph and the Helmet of Fate standing on it.

So now the Black Marvel Family may have their own version of Tawky Tawny... only it's an anthropomorphic crocodile (Mr. Chatty Crocky, maybe?).

That is too stinkin' AWESOME! I love how the Black Marvel Family story is shaping up.

My guess is that Sivana Junior and Georgina will succeed in their time-travel quest and end up being Magnificus and Beautia. It would fly in the face of all established Sivana Family continuity... but I think it'd be another cool, wacky idea stemming out of this series.

Not that anything can top the new Egg Fu.

    Except Mr. Chatty Crocky!!

Dr. Cale...that's the chick from the current Superman storyline right? I don't have the issues on me now. Can I get a verification on that?

My guess for the croc's new name would be Sebek, since it follows the "Egyptian" theme.

"Asking the wrong question," or "asking the wrong Question?"

    That's the question.

I don't know about the Superman storyline (as I don't read it), but she was a scientist/businesswoman who antagonized Wonder Woman during Rucka's run on that title.

This was a better issue than some other ones of recent. No space stuff with Lobo or any of those others; hooray.

-Air Black Marvel, haha. Yet again, the most interesting story is told with the Black Marvel Family and the Odd Couple. Does this mean that Miss Montoya will now be trained by Richard Dragon?

-More Luthor, Inc....snore. Did something happen here?

-Wow, Venus Sivana's a looker, and I get distinctly Maniac Mansion vibes from the two kids in the basement. Who was that silver man? "Sorry, sweetie, I don't speak camel jockey"? Heh. That was pretty funny, especially when someone like Black Adam's right across the table. This whole sequence provided me, a newcomer to the Marvels, a bit of interesting insight into how the Sivana family "works". The more Marvels, the better.

-I like the crocodile monster. It could be an interesting addition to whatever DC winds up doing with the Marvels. Haven't we seen a sympathetic anthropomorphic crocodile somewhere in comics before? I could have sworn I remember one from the 1980s or something, and not the evil one in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

-I've got a brand new restrictive enzyme sequencer right here, Miss. Who's this Doctor Cale, anyways? I've found a reference to a Veronica Cale that's a villainess in Rucka's Wonder Woman, but no idea beyond that. Oh, that got answered while I was composing the post and researching Doctor Cale. Based upon what Rucka said about her motivations in a Newsarama interview, I think I like her.

-Not a bad recap of the Hawkpeople; I've never understood much about them.

A bit of trivia, there were Crocodile men in the Monster Society way back in the 1940's issues of Captain Marvel.

This was, hands down, the greatest issue yet. The Black Marvel Family is everything the Marvel Family was and should be. It's a shame what's happening to Billy and Mary and Freddy. Whoever was behind that deserves a dry hump. Seriously, even with its downs, the ups in this book are just too great to ignore.

Like Richard Dragon! Back, as Richard Dragon! Not the wimpy Dixon Dragon, but the real Dragon. The hardass teacher. Renee and Vic's part of the story just keeps getting better.

And now that twisted chick from Greg's run on Wonder Woman is on Oolong Island with a bunch of sexually repressed mad scientists, who are as entertaining as they are evil.

I know this book's not supposed to do anything more than continually shake things up, but if they used these themes for the rest of DC's publishing history, I'd be happy. The stories you could get out of the Black Marvel Family, Question and Montoya, and an island full of mad scientists... they'd be too great to imagine.
    Go !@#$ yourself.

I want to apologize to everyone.

Those "Woo hoos" you've been hearing all day today? You're going to keep hearing them all week. Maybe longer.

I'm sure none of you want to hear me singing, loud enough to wake you, "Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead!" I can't promise that. I'll try, but you're asking a lot of me.

You have to understand... Dixon's Dragon looks to be very very dead. And for me that's like Christmas and my Birthday put together, with extra kittens and ice cream.

I know! It's very rare when 52 is the best book I read all week, but so far it's kicking the holy hell out of everything else I bought.
    Go !@#$ yourself.
