    Default 52 Week 25 (***SPOILERS***)

mazingman728 spoilers from the DC Forum

Cover has three kids dressed up in Halloween costumes; one boy as Steel, one boy as Booster, and a girl as the Question. The boy that is dressed up as Booster is using the Helmet of Fate to hold his candy.

The ticker at the bottom reads “Goblins, Ghouls, and Green Lantern!...Meet the Crime Lord of Gotham!...Death of Kite Man…”

Origin is Nightwing by Mark Wade and George Perez. The origin takes Dick Grayson from the death of his parents and becoming Robin up through him becoming Nightwing. The last panel has mention of Nightwing’s meeting with a Monitor; Grave celestial forces beyond our ken have informed him that his survival in the multiverse’s recent crisis was neither expected nor foretold…and that his ultimate fate is yet to be determined.

The solicitation quote for this issue reads as follows: "That's — the Black Marvel Family?"

    Week 25, Day 1
Gotham City: Bruno Mannheim says that he wants to make Gotham City the Capitol City of Crime. He claims that “you affiliate with Intergang or you die. You swear on The Crime Bible or you die.” ***The Crime Bible is said to be made out of the stone that Cain used to murder his brother Able*** Mirage says “A stone book, very artsy” which infuriates Bruno. Bruno in return smashes Mirage’s head into the book and then orders Mirage’s body to the kitchen as “Building an Empire is hungry work”. Bruno then turns to a table of eight bad guys and breaks the neck of a pimp looking guy telling the remaining survivors “You crime bosses work for me or we make you extinct”. You see that two others have been killed, one with a sword in his back and Kite-Man…I assume…with a broken neck.

    Week 25, Day 3
Boston: Captain Marvel JR. is knocked down by Sabbac who is looking to eat the souls of innocence to begin Neron’s Century of Fire. Mary Marvel flies down to Cap Jr. and tells him that he was to have waited for her. Meanwhile Sabbac has grabbed four kids and are saved by Isis. Osiris flies down and hits Sabbac in the mouth knocking out one of Sabbac’s teeth. Black Adam flies in and gives Sabbac a shot in the gut which sends Sabbac tumbling towards a building. Isis using her powers on a street side tree makes it grow and catch Sabbac before he can crash into the building and hurt other. Black Adam and Osiris then fly into formation and use the Lightning Strike on Sabbac, knocking him out. Black Adam, Osiris and Isis then take off with Sabbac. Mary asks Cap Jr. “…who the heck’s that Black Adam, Junior kid”. In which Cap Jr. responds “I don’t know. But I’m going to find out”. ***This is probably the first real indication as to how the day’s fall being as Halloween is on a Tuesday this year making Day 1 a Sunday. This would also indicate that Week One Day One was May 14***

    Week 25, Day 3
Elsewhere: The Helmet of Fate is taking Ralph through the Realm of the ****ed. The Helmet tells Ralph that “This leg of our Journey is nearly finished Ralph Dibny. In our travels you have met many who have been scarred by the arts of the arcane. Before we leave the Realm of the ****ed I wish you to see one familiar face.” The first to the Ralph sees he does not recognize and the Helmet explains who they are and then the Helmet brings Ralph to what appears to be a large statue of Felix Faust. The Helmet then gives a arcane history of Faust and how he came to be in the Realm of the ****ed. The Helmet then tells Ralph that that is not Faust’s body but his soul and “If you end up here, I promise you that no one will mourn for you. Ever”. And then Faust’s soul turns to dust and blows away. ***Their also appears to have been a town in one of the panels when Faust’s soul starts to crumble which appears to turn into some rock formation***

    Week 25, Day 3
New York City: Icicle and Tigress are trying to break into a bank during a Halloween parade because Tigress thought that they would blend in with all of the other costumes. Infinity Inc. shows up to stop them. Once Icicle and Tigress are surrounded by Infinity Inc. and don’t appear to want to give up, Infinity Inc’s newest member – Matrix – makes her appearance and captures them by appearing between Icicle and Tigress and knocking their heads together.
Alan Scott who was watching from the crowd turns and walks away until he meets up with Michael Holt. Alan talks to Michael about joining him as his Bishop in the new UN sanctioned Checkmate.

    Week 52, Day 4:
Oolong Island: Dr. Morrow attempts to talk Magnus into building a plutonium Robot for Intergang. Magnus said that he had lost his mind when he made the last one which is why he is taking his pills. Morrow thinks that it is interesting that Will is taking his pills to kill is creativity.
Boss Mannheim lands on Oolong Island via helicopter. Mannheim tells Chang Tzu that the visit is not a social call and that he was informed that there is a solution to his problems in Kahndaq. You then get to see Chang Tzu- who is a giant Egg with mechanical legs and arms – who then tells Mannheim “Indeed I do: Weapons so terrible, only one name seemed suitable…we call them the Four Horsemen.:

Next Week in 52 shows two scared women and an Alligator Man. None of the pictures of Ambush Bug from late weeks “Next in 52” appear in this issue.

I don't know why this hadn't occurred (spelling???) to me before but is it safe to assume that Trials of Shazam took place in the OYL scheme, right? When EXACTLY did Mary Marvel and CM2 lose their powers?

Giant mechanical egg?? Oh GOD. I remember that villain from Wonder Woman.

I gotta pick up this issue of 52 soon.

Wasn't Kite-Man killed by Deathstroke after he refused to join the SSoSV during IC?

It was stated that he was tossed off a roof. Many took it to mean he could've survived.

He didn't survive this, though. :-/

He is the DCU's version of Kenny! I think he should be killed off in every major event.

    For me at least.
    why is that?

Wasn't expecting a jam issue - Joe Bennett, Dale Eaglesham, Phil Jimenez and Patrick Olliffe - but it looked good. :)

Always nice to see Neron too. Looks like his hand is becoming more prominent since last we saw him (reduced to a rhyming demon in DAY OF JUDGMENT or thereabouts, IIRC)

RIP Mirage....and dude with the pimp hat (should we know who he is?).......and *sniff* Kite-Man *sob* :( :( :(

How much of a hand did Grant Morrison have in this issue? When we are told Faust's story we see Morrison's Klarion and how the crime boss became so powerful also sounds like what Morrison was doing in the Mr. Miracle miniseries.

It wasn't the titans' Mirage, but some villain I've never seen before.

Haven't been able to check out the issue yet but I'm going to guess its a Bat-villain. In the first run of Who's Who there's a bat-villain named Mirage. He wears mostly orange. (Of course he could have changed his outfit since then.)

Why do the Marvels have thier powers? Over in Trials they are without powers.

    And was the Ventriliquest dead?
