Question Where's the thread from a guy who succeeded in getting published by IMAGE? Recently

OK, I cannot find it now. There was a thread either here or in another one of the forums here from a guy who succeded in getting his work published via IMAGE. It was some kind of strange tales thing with Big Foot.

I am looking for that thread and any other from regular folks who succeeded in getting their work published through Image and other Indes.

    Thanks.

We're all regular folks, guys, until we get published, in which time we become one of "them."

It's not rocket science and there are no hidden tricks, if you are good enough, you will be given the chance, and if you are good enough to stay, then you stay. It's pretty simple. I submitted and talked to them about a few things they passed on, until finally something hit and I convinced them to give me a shot, now it's up to me to produce.

Follow the publisher's guidelines for submissions and don't suck, that's how it works.

Ryan, thanks for posting. May I ask you some questions related to how they do business, how things operate in regards to getting the comic book prepped?

Okay, am I the only one who thinks Matt_Stevens completely missed the fact that Mike and Dwight do (or did), in fact, have books at Image?

By the way, Dwight, Edgar Allan Poo looks great.

OK, I did not catch that. Obviously. Guess that makes me the nimrod of the week. :(

By the way, I found that thread. In another forum. :)

So may I ask if our creators can tell us a little about how exactly Image works when they say yes to a proposal? That is where I am hazy. I see nothing online to describe the process of getting that first issue to print and just how much the writer/artist are responsible for.

    Thanks!

Ryan covered most of it already. But for a recap:

    1) Follow the submission guidelines on Image's site, exactly.
    2) Don't suck.
    3) You, as the creative team, are responsible for delivering a print ready book to Image on time, based on the terms of your agreement.
    4) Lather, rinse and if you followed #2 precisely, repeat. :)

I can't speak for Image Central, but I know that once Shadowline accepted my book we were given a schedule and we went into production full-swing.

I honestly don't understand what you mean by "how much the writer/artist is responsible for." You'll be responsible to give the publisher a complete book on your set deadline... simple as that. :)

Well, I just was not sure if Image wanted everything being 100% ready to print and then they take over. So I now see that is the case, which is fine. I'll have to do a lot of research to find out exactly wqhat that means. What needs to be done, etc. And of course, what it will cost each issue. The first issue being primamirly important. I have some backers, but I want to give them a much better idea of what this will cost should Image or another company say "We Love You!" :)

One thing I am looking for is an online tutorial on the process of creating a comic book issue. Step by step. Have not found it yet. I think maybe I need to find a book on this instead? I ordered one of eBay, but the scumbag never sent it to me.

By the way, I don't suck. Never. I just like to get sucked, :D

To be quite honest, Matt, I think you're putting the cart before the horse.

I would worry about putting together a fantastic submission (follow specific publisher guidelines to a "T") and go from there. Getting a publisher to say "We love you" is enough to worry about in the early going... trust me. :)

I tend to be a bit anal about things. Just a bit. Cannot help it. One reason my writing is so precise.

But man, am I having a heck of a time finding an artist. I am putting adds up now in some forums.

What would be a low print run per issue and a high end for an Image release and how much money, aproximately, would go to the creators per issue? I have not found that information out as of yet. I really need to know, at least a little bit, what I and the artist could possibly earn, otherwise I won't be able to answer crucial questions potential artists on this project might have.

The website with submission information doesn't really answer a lot of the questions I have...
