So wait. What are the exact issue runs that Seagle and Kelly did? I want to hunt these down.
ABSO-FLIPPIN-LUTELY LOVE IT. Seriously though, I loved it.
ART - Chris Bachalo and Carlos Pacheco. Bachalo is one of my favorites, and was awesome as usual. Pacheco, once upon a time was one of my favorites, was doin' the best work of his career. If that wasn't enough, the best colors in the business, LIQUID!, was makin' their work look absolutely stunning.
ROSTER – Definitely one of the most diverse and interesting rosters the titles have ever had in all their years of publication. The addition of CeCe, Marrow, and one of my favorite characters ever, Maggott, made the team all the more “new and different” from previous teams. The new line-up really made the team feel like a fresh beginning.
FAMILY – I cannot emphasize this enough, but the team was finally feeling like a family again. Heartwarming moments gathered at a dinner table and fun moments of just goofin’ off out on a lake just made the team so much more personal and intimate with one another, and with me as a reader. These moments are part of what I miss most in today’s X-Men comics. They were more than just co-workers, teammates, or mutants who just so happened to be stuck in the same boat.
On a side note, issue #350 is one of my favorite issues ever. It was the issue that officially sold me on Gambit – Joe Mad’s art, Buccellato’s colors, the Marauders, Magneto, Ferris, Spat, Grovel, etc. all helped too.
