Kelly was the one who came up with the idea of the X-men leaving him to die in the first place, so the awkwardness involved in bringing him back was self-inflicted. Their run was bittersweet. They had a great style and really captured the soapyness of the X-men, but some of their ideas- killing Storm, killing Psylocke, having Rogue attempt murder by hypothermia, taking away Rogue's Ms Marvel powers- were just awful and seemed to be motivated by fan-boy prejudices more than the need of the story.
