Default Do I Brother Reading The Darkness Series 2

Beginning of this year, I picked up the The Darkness Compendium Edition. For the price I paid for it, it not a bad deal as you are getting 50 issues of the The Darkness in one volume.

That I did not expect, and some thing that I forgot about comic book in the 90's was the number of cross overs. Like with in the first 10 chapters, there is a 4 part cross over with the WitchBlade Comic, which is not published in this book.
Then then after that there is a lot of references to the Darkness/Batman One Shot coverover.... again not published in the books.
Shortly after that there a build up to another big bad guy.... only to get another cross over with Witchblade... again not published in this books.
And finally, one that really pissed me off was this one chapter where they kill off a important character,
Jenny
, only to finish it off with another surpise cross over with WitchBlade and some other title that I have not even heard of before.

Anyways, I am finishing up the book, and it's starting on the second series of the darkness. Once again, it getting interesting.

But the big question is this, do I really want to continue The Darkness Series 2?
Has any one here read The Darkness Series 2? Is series 2 plagued with as many cross overs with other titles as the first series?

I was about to pick up the WitchBlade Compendium Edition, however my experience with Darkness Compendium has put me off the idea.

The second series doesn't have much crossovers if i remember it right.

There is only the mini serie 'Universe' (it plays between the first and the second serie) but it isn`t neccesary to undertsand the whole coming back from the death thing.

Other crossovers would be the Superman/Darkness, Wolverine/Darkness, Darkness/Hulk. This crossovers are good reads but not important for the stroyline.
This crossovers don't even get realy mentioned in the regular comic.

And i can realy recommend the second serie, it finally gets a lot darker.
And I can't wait for the 3. Serie wich will start after the 'First Born' event.
