Yeah, Passions crept on, despite horrible ratings, for 7 years. James Reilly did eventually come back to Days, with a really horrible story that earned him a lot of rants, and put ratings into an almost freefall.

The thing was that Passions came off as a parody of Soap Operas so people would watch it as a "tongue-in-cheek" type of show. It was almost like the writers were saying "Yes, this is how bad the genre has gotten". So you knew that and just watched it to laugh at how absurd it was.

According to wiki...

NBC was threatening to cancel Days of Our Lives since ratings platooned badly after he left. Reilly was asked if he could return and fix the show by 2003. He returned and did that storyline.

Found out recently that Prime Suspect was canceled. I enjoyed it. Ah well...

They are showing two more episodes this Sunday night. DVR it if you are a Giants or Niners fan.

Fox has cancelled Alcatraz and The Finder while renewing Touch.

The Finder was quirky, but works better as an occasional guest character on Bones as opposed to its own show

if you're talking about Alcatraz...that show was way too windy for network tv

and like I said in another thread...Fox says YES when pretty much everyone else says NO, so there are a lot of shows that would have never seen the light of day if it wasn't for FOX

True, but they also are WAY too quick to cancel shows as well. Alcatraz was good. I want to see more or at least get a wrap up episode to just not have it be a big FU to the fans of the show.

but most every network is like that...once word comes down, everything stops

I remember reading about the cancellation of "Lone Star", they were in the middle of shooting an episode, suits came down, said you're done and that was that

30 Rock will get renewed. They just worked out a deal for Baldwin to wrap the show next season. Parks and Rec and Community likely aren't as safe.
