Default People that don't tip suck

I am a disgruntled pizza delivery driver.

No one seems to understand how important tipping is to us poor pepperoni pushers in this stupid town.

I am warning all of you right now. Tip your pizza delivery drivers.

Or I will cut you. :evilangry

My mother in law never tips. I can't remember exactly what her theory is, but she is convinced that the delivery people already get compensated for the amount you would tip them, or something crazy like that. I told her that I worked in a pizza place for three years when I was younger, and I know for a fact she is wrong. But once that lady thinks she is right about something, there is no changing her mind. She gets food delivered all the time too. The drivers probably look at her address, and think "Aw Crap."

P.S. When I read this thread title, I thought it was something dirty:D

Lots of people seem to assume that the delivery charge is our tip. Those people are wrong.

We don't have tipping here in Australia. And thank God for that.

When I was younger I worked in a car wash. When a car was done we'd hold up our towel to let the owner know the car was ready. Most people realized we'd make our money on a tip and were generous.

But sometimes we'd get a totally dishonest cheapskate. Not just cheap but sneaky about being a jipper.

We'd hold up our towel and no one would come to claim their car. The car wash had a lounge area so we figured they were in there and go look. While we were inside the jipper would get in their car and drive off, avoiding the tip.

There were also the blatant non-tippers. They were going to jip you and be damn proud of it. We all knew who they were and tried to pass them off to each other.

One guy was notorious. He stiffed me probably a half dozen times over the course of a summer. He came in my last day working there and I got stuck with his car. When he came to claim his car I reached in my pocket, pulled out a dollar, and handed it to him.

"Seems like you need this more than me.", I said.

He turned red-faced and drove off in his new Caddy.

We don't in sweden either. Sort of. You tip people carrying your luggage, and the taxi-drivers, and people who clean your hotel room, but there's no need to tip for deliveries or restaurants. They're supposed to get that in their salaries.

Far as I know, we only really tip waiting staff over here. The rest just happens if you can't be bothered waiting for change. At least I hope that's the done thing, otherwise I've really pissed some people off over the years.

I ordered pizza last Friday. Didn't tip the delivery guy :p (didn't even occur to me, honestly)

The thing that confuses me a bit if who to tip. I mean, I can't remember ever seeing somebody tip the bus driver, or the comic book guy, or the McDonalds employee. Assuming they've done a great job, don't they deserve a tip too?

I try and tip servers well, and I'm happy to tip more for really good service

But I never quite get why I should be expected to tip at Subway or Taco Del Mar and fast food places like that. They way I see it, the job of those particular employees is to prepare and serve me the food and then ring me up at the cashier.
