Rolling his eyes at another scientist speaking ? just being generally a bit full of himself ... its more to do with Nortons persona...I liked his performance a lot, don't get me wrong, but he was not really playing a man tortured by demons, he was playing a comic book character, pandering to the summer movie crowd, going for laughs, Bruce Banner is sometimes like that in the comics, but mostly he tends to be really tortured.

I really liked the film, don't get me wrong, will be buying it, will watch it again, but there is not much substance there and its not really trying to say anything.
I disagree - some of the in-jokes were pretty corny spoilers:
"Don't make me... hungry. You wouldn't like me when I'm... hungry" (Banner's Portuguese fails him)
end of spoilers but I thought he did very well at portraying Bruce and his predicament.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK: The CBR Review

With Marvel Studios' "The Incredible Hulk" in US cinemas this weekend, CBR's Andy Khouri gives you the good, the bad and the green on the second Hulk film of the decade, and how it compares to its maligned predecessor.

    Good god this movie rocked.

Norton was great as Banner and Roth owned as Emil Blonsky/Abomanation.

This movie was far superior to Ang Lee's crapfest.

And i like the set up with Sterns.

I don't want to say it, but this film wasn't that enjoyable. The final fight scene wasn't as badass as I expected, and the Betty Ross was so forced in there.

Tim Roth kicked all kinds of ass though. The parts with him goin' up against the Hulk(Just as Emil, not as Abombination) was easily the most enjoyable part, and got me psyched for Captain America.

This film is one of Marvel's best, screw the critics, they would eat this up if it were a Zach Penn/Ed Norton comic run over twelve issues. Get a grip, it's a film about a guy whose pants expand when he's agitated. Yeesh.

Style and substance piled on top of each other, sometimes apart, sometimes unified. I love how the B-plot merges seemlessly into the chasing and ground'n'pound A-plot. I have a few small reservations (such as "Will a certain future villain be played like The Riddler in the third film"), but the characters here were all extremly likeable, funny in the right places, dramatic where it counted...and slightly maniacal when it counted to, real moustache-twirling that you can forgive.

And when you get to The Hulk...my god, he BREATHED Stan Lee and Jack Kirby...and I was reminded of Lee and Kirby. Few Marvel movies REMIND me of the classic days of "Tales of Suspense", but this did it in spades.

I can sum up this film in two words... Ang Who?

Truth is, I pretty much saw which scene would go where a mile away. The movie was very predictable, the only curve balls I got was how Blonsky became the Abomination. And I'll admit the final fight scene between Hulk and Abomination didn't live up to my overhyped expectations.

However, it still was a VERY good film. And the said fight scene between Hulk and Abomination was probably, no, it was THE best CGI fight scene I've ever seen. Screw the Matrix, screw Spider-Man 2, there were times where I actually thought Hulk and Abomb were real.

It blew Ang Lee's film out of the water and into the same crater as Batman and Robin(well maybe not THAT crater). Norton was good as Banner, Hurt was a very SINISTER General Ross and I dug that, Liv Tyler's Betty was used a hell of a lot better than in Lee's film. As for Roth's Abomination, I loved it. I loved his power junkie personality and he was just a total badass throughout that film. I'm very happy that they spoilers:
didn't kill off the Abomination. I'm sick of the movie cliche where the badguy dies and I don't think that should be applied to comics. Villians become the heroes' archenemies for a reason and it isn't because they get killed in the first fight with them.
    end of spoilers

All in all it was a GREAT film. I enjoyed it thorougly and once again... Ang Who?

The mainstream media reviews I've seen have all been positive, as well. Not as good as Iron Man, but still good.

Can't wait to see this movie this weekend.
I'm personally a fan of how Marvel is using elements from both regular continuity and Ultimate continuity for these movies. Kind of cherry picking parts from each to make the whole seem more believable. Gamma bomb is classic, but come on. All i wanted was for this movie to be good and for the Hulk to be badass. Less sappy, more smashing.

Really glad to hear this. I've been a big Hulk fan since forever. First comic I ever recall reading was a Marvel Team Up with Spider-Man and The Hulk....I think it had Woodgod? I might be remembering it wrong.

I'm also glad to hear about what was posted in that spoiler. I hate when superhero movies do that to the villains.

I didn't enjoy it as much as the Ang Lee movie, if anything I would say it had less scenes of Hulk action overall....and the tone of the movie is a little in jokey and smug at times, it doesn't really take The Hulk concept too seriously and is happiest when it is nodding to the T.V show or Comics and making light of the situations.

I just prefer the more serious and straight tone adopted by the Ang Lee movie....this movie does not have as much substance, but I guess, that is not the films intention.
This film has a scene where Bruce Banner, upon awaking in torn cloths in Guatemala of all places has to then beg for spare change in the rain, just so he can afford new clothes. And it's making light of the Hulk concept?

The fight is LEAGUES above Neo vs Smith in ALL three fights. Those Matrix fights were glorified dances with people getting one blow in for every hundred blocked shots.

Hulk and Abomination beat the TAR out of each other and the hits each took made me wince. Hulk vs Abomb for the win.
