Default The Incredible Hulk movie (2008)

    http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22216

Its not much info, but its better than nothing. Two things that caught my eye though:

    1: A sequel, not a reboot
    2: No recasting planned.

I have to say I'm pleased with both of those decisions. The movie origin, though I didn't like it at first, grew on me. And Eric Bana, I felt, made a GREAT Bruce Banner, so glad to know he's returning. Or they hope to get him to return, at least.

i agree, i am happy about this. my only real complaint about the first one was the ending, i thought that the final battle was kinda lame, but i thought the story and pacing overall were great. don't get me wrong, i certainly hope for some crazy action in the next one, but i think the first one did a good job of laying ground work and legitimizing a character who really is known for little more than "Hulk Smash!"...outside of fans of the comics and maybe some of the fans of the tv series.

i really enjoyed the first Hulk film and i'm glad to see a sequel. my only real concern is that Ang Lee probably won't be back and there will probably be an effort to dumb it down somewhat to give people the smashfest that they wanted.

    Yup, seconded those thoughts.

They're going to go for the typical summer blockbuster, instead of making a movie trailer that makes it seem like it's going to be one.

I'd be happy if the original cast stayed, though. I hate when they switch actors in a movie franchise, especially if they still keep some of them. It ruins the flow.

The original is my favorite comic-based movie. I don't really want a sequel because I already know it's going to be stupider.

Nah... a sequel could really be cool. We could get a talking hulk, because we know that the technology now exists to make a realistic looking speaking computer animated character. And more action doesn't neccessarily mean "dumbing down". You can be intelligent and action packed. It has happened.

I just imagine executives panicking over a scene with four lines of dialogue, screaming, "This is what ruined us the first time!!"

Because you haven't checked the numbers and the movie did well enough at the box office and the merchandizing sold even better? Just... maybe?

    Production budget + marketing = $172 million.
    Worldwide take = $245 million
Not including DVDs (3.5 million sold in the first 7 days)

Very true. But the odds are in favour of which side?
Sometimes, the chance isn't worth it. At least for the people who loved the first movie and are dreading the next one having a totally different mood, tone, and intelligence... which it would have to.

My hope is that the sequel is successful enough to warrant another one. I think Hulk would make a good trilogy. :D But first things first, gotta get part 2 out first. I wonder who Avi Arad has in mind for the villain? I personally would save Abomination for a part 3, and use Leader for part 2.

it's entirely possible to make an intelligent and action packed superhero film. look at Batman Begins, X-Men 2, or the Spider-Man films for some recent examples. also if they do decide to take the Hulk in a more action oriented direction or to make more of a monster movie out of it it's not as though it'd be entirely out of line with the Hulk's comic roots.

They may have made a few million of it, but when a company puts a movie in to production. On it's realese they want tit to prospur quite a big enough revenue. %) million in ticket sales is not a big enough profit, to label it as a success, it was a flop.

I hope the second is better...thats alll

    :D

I don't even know what to say to this.

    :D

The word "flop" has never been uttered with this movie. Profit doesn't account for anything? Taking in the DVD's and merchandizing, over $200 million in profit makes a bomb?
