Default So, Thor as a god or not, were you happy with the result?

I still hope they keep disbelievers around him and never entirely go 616 with it.

But I like the fact that the rational and logical explanation....doesn't always work.

Thor would be so much less if he were just a mental patient and thief.

I was pretty surprised with what happened in Ultimates...

For me, I liked the fact they kept it ambigous for so long. Frankly, I know some people wanted Thor to be a fake but it just didn't fit with my reasons for liking him. He's a being slightly "beyond" us. On the other hand, the subtle ways he's come to live amongst us just make it great.

Well said. The fact that they kept it a secret for so long was great, aswell as an interesting reveal.

The real question is, after the big throw down with the Lords of the Rings villains that Loki has summoned, will the Ultimates really believe that their friend is a thundergod or just assume Loki is a mutant of great power?

If Thor is genuine, then why when Quiksilver removed his belt (in Ultimates 2 #5 or 6 I think) did he suddenly lose his power of flight? Did I miss something there?

Jeez, these issues ship so far apart It's hard to remember everything thats happened. Ultimates 2 has been a 2 1/2 year series, thats a lot of time for only 13 issues of story.

    1. Mythological Fact: Thor in Real Life Norse Mythology can't lift his hammer Mjonir. Instead, all of his mighty strength is bestowed upon him by an enchanted belt that he wears. Of course, unlike the real life Norse Myth, Thor also wears gloves.

    2. Yes. I like to think that by the time the delays are done that Ultimates 3 will mostly be completed. We already know that two issues have been. They might actually release it monthly.

Mad and Loeb have been working on the book for well over a year by now. Two issues are completed. My guess is that somewhere halfway 2008 Mad will be booted of the book and #4 will be done by someone faster.

'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

It annoys me that Thor started talking like 616 Thor in Ultimate Power and when asked about it Joe Q said it would be explained in Loeb's Ultimates. Now I'm not going to jump to conclusions here but if they just switch him to "ye olde english" Thor my guess is alot of people will be annoyed.

I think it's hilarious to make Thor talk in "ye olde nglish" when Thor ISN"T ENGLISH!! He's Norse, which would be Swedish/Finnish/Dutch.

Not to mention it's annoying as all hell when he does that. Yes, Thor may have talked in Olde English in the Dark Ages, but it's silly to believe he would keep speaking that way as the centuries passed...

Maybe he learned English in the Middle Ages and didn't visit again until Doctor Blake's time.

Yeah, but then, even since Doc Blakes time it's been 45 years, I think Thor might've dropped the speech pattern a bit in half a century.

But, really it's kind of a moot argument. I can remember times that Thor talked very contemporary, and I can remember times when he was in his completely chivalristic "Have at thee, foul villain!" mode, and I really, really think it's probably just a call made by the writer.

Think of the way Millar's Ultimate Thor talks. Then think of the way The Eric Masterson Thor (the 90's Thor, that had the helmet that covered his eyes and a full beard, remember that one?) Talked. Then think of the way the most current OdinForce Thor talked.......all very different, and usually suited to the style of the story. SO it's definitely something they can not do if they so choose.

There's no such thing as a "Mythological Fact". It's an oxymoron. A better phrase would be "mythological theory".

but, mythology has no theories in em.
    they're stories.
it's told in Norse Mythology that Thor gained his strenght from his magic belt, which allowed for the hammer to be lifted.
    therefore, it is, Mythological fact.
