    1. The final page of Avengers #57 shows a boy kicking around Ultron's head. Name the poem, and its author, quoted in the panel captions on the page. (200 points).

I have no idea who wrote "There Once was a Man from Nantucket" ...

Actually, I have a vague, vague memory of this page. It wouldn't by any chance be Shelley's "Ozymandias," would it? (Or was it Byron? Crap.)

    2. Each of these handsome fellows made a cover appearance in Tales to Astonish. Name as many as you can. (150 points each)

    d) Fin Fang Foom?

    3. Which of the following are REAL titles, and which are FAKE? (100 points each)

    a. Weird Chillers -- fake
    b. Weird Adventures -- real
    c. Weird Horror Tales -- fake
    d. Weird Tales of the Future -- real

    4. You are probably are very familiar with the Spider-Man reprint titles, Marvel Tales. Marvel tried to strike lightning several times in the 70s with similar titles. Name the initial feature in the following titles: (100 points each)

    a. Marvel Spectacular -- Thor
    b. Marvel Super Action (comic) -- Hulk
    c. Marvel Triple Action -- Avengers
    d. Marvel Adventures -- Daredevil

    5. In the Summer of 1976, the USA celebrated its 200th Birthday. That summer, DC comics had 15 titles that had crossed the 200 issue mark. Name as many as you can: (50 points each)
    a. Wonder Woman
    b. Action
    c. Batman
    d. Detective
    e. Superman
    f. Superboy
    g. Adventure
    h. Our Army at War
    i. GI Combat
    j. Star-Spangled War Stories
    k. The Flash
    l. Blackhawk
    m. Our Fighting Forces
    n. House of Mystery
    o. House of Secrets

    6. What do Creepy #20, Nightmare #20 (Skywald) and Classics Illustrated #40 all have in common? (150 points).

I wish I was allowed to go up and find my reprint of that book, I can picture the gorgeous Buscema art but I can't remember a word of it.
    2. Each of these handsome fellows made a cover appearance in Tales to Astonish. Name as many as you can. (150 points each) Another one I should know.

    a. Weird Chillers real

    4. You are probably are very familiar with the Spider-Man reprint titles, Marvel Tales. Marvel tried to strike lightning several times in the 70s with similar titles. Name the initial feature in the following titles: (100 points each)

This one is really difficult, I can think of loads of titles that were long-lived, but not over 200 in 1976. I bet there's a really obvious one I've missed.
    a. Action Comics
    b. Superman
    c. Detective Comics
    d. Batman
    e. Wonder Woman
    f. Adventure Comics
    g. Superboy and the Legion

    6. What do Creepy #20, Nightmare #20 (Skywald) and Classics Illustrated #40 all have in common? (150 points).
It's got to be the cover artist, and I have a choice of Jack Davis and Frank Frazetta, I'll go for Frazetta.

    1. The final page of Avengers #57 shows a boy kicking around Ultron's head. Name the poem, and its author, quoted in the panel captions on the page. (200 points).
Yeah... and I'm off to yet another winning start....

    b. Marvel Super Action (comic) - That was Captain America, wasn't it?
    c. Marvel Triple Action - was that Black Panther?
    d. Marvel Adventures - no idea

    5. In the Summer of 1976, the USA celebrated its 200th Birthday. That summer, DC comics had 15 titles that had crossed the 200 issue mark. Name as many as you can: (50 points each)

I've changed question one to allow for part marks.

I always liked it when perfessors did that.

Also - Question 5 has been changed to 14 titles, not 15. I must have double counted one.

Hidden by spoiler tags to reduce accidental peeking at my likely-worthless answers:
    spoilers:

    1. The final page of Avengers #57 shows a boy kicking around Ultron's head. Name the poem, and its author, quoted in the panel captions on the page. (200 points - 100 points if you only know either author or title).
My first instinct was something by Kipling, but now I'm thinking "Ozymandias" by Shelley?

    2. Each of these handsome fellows made a cover appearance in Tales to Astonish. Name as many as you can. (150 points each)
    a) Go-Tuu Not a serious guess.
    b) Slaagg Not a serious guess.
    c) Grottu? Semi-serious; at least there *was* a monster by that name, I think. Somewhere.
    d) Is that Fin Fang Foom?
    3. Which of the following are REAL titles, and which are FAKE? (100 points each)

    a. Weird Chillers FAKE
    b. Weird Adventures FAKE
    c. Weird Horror Tales REAL
    d. Weird Tales of the Future REAL

    4. You are probably are very familiar with the Spider-Man reprint titles, Marvel Tales. Marvel tried to strike lightning several times in the 70s with similar titles. Name the initial feature in the following titles: (100 points each)

    a. Marvel Spectacular THOR
    b. Marvel Super Action CAPTAIN AMERICA
    c. Marvel Triple Action I want to say "Fantastic Four", because I know they were in the first issue [i]I[/b] bought (well, according to the cover, it featured The Thing, Silver Surfer, and Dr. Doom), but Marvel wouldn't have been crazy enough to launch this title with the Fantastic FOUR, would they? It ended up as an Avengers reprint, but I'm throwing caution to the wind and sticking with the FANTASTIC FOUR
    d. Marvel Adventures DAREDEVIL
I don't like my answer to b. Iron Man and Cap were both in Marvel Double Feature, but maybe MSA skipped ahead to reprinting the full-length Cap book?

    5. In the Summer of 1976, the USA celebrated its 200th Birthday. That summer, DC comics had 14 titles that had crossed the 200 issue mark. Name as many as you can: (50 points each)

    a. Superman
    b. Action
    c. Detective
    d. Batman
    e. Wonder Woman
    f. World's Finest
    g. House of Mystery
    h. Adventure
    i. Our Army At War
    j. Young Romance
    k. Superboy
    l. G.I. Combat
    m. Secret Hearts
    n. Girls' Love
    o. Blackhawk

    6. What do Creepy #20, Nightmare #20 (Skywald) and Classics Illustrated #40 all have in common? (150 points).
It must have been something literary, so I'll guess they all had adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe. If it's a particular story (assuming my guess is right), I'd guess "The Tell-Tale Heart".
    end of spoilers

Geez, am I correctly understanding you to say that your only transgression was going back & correcting the typo? If so, I can't conceive of how that would warrant disqualification. I certainly wouldn't consider that grounds for disqualification - I've done the same myself to correct odd coding errors I'd made. Don't be so silly.

    1. The final page of Avengers #57 shows a boy kicking around Ultron's head. Name the poem, and its author, quoted in the panel captions on the page. (200 points - 100 points if you only know either author or title).
OZYMANDIAS BY SHELLEY (I met a traveler from a far off land who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone...)

    2. Each of these handsome fellows made a cover appearance in Tales to Astonish. Name as many as you can. (150 points each)
a)MOOMBA (funny how easily these nonsense monster names came back to me)
b)VANDARR (had to think about this one for a while)
    c)GROOT
d)DROOM (I thought it was FIN FANG FOOM, but that would have been Strange Tales, right? So this has to be the other dragon monster. Can't remember whether or not he wore pants, too)

    3. Which of the following are REAL titles, and which are FAKE? (100 points each)

    a. Weird Chillers NO
    b. Weird Adventures YES
    c. Weird Horror Tales NO
    d. Weird Tales of the Future YES
I Know d is a real one, but the others are just guesses.

    4. You are probably are very familiar with the Spider-Man reprint titles, Marvel Tales. Marvel tried to strike lightning several times in the 70s with similar titles. Name the initial feature in the following titles: (100 points each)

    a. Marvel Spectacular THOR
    b. Marvel Super Action (comic) CAPTAIN AMERICA
    c. Marvel Triple Action FF
    d. Marvel Adventures DD
    Easy!

    5. In the Summer of 1976, the USA celebrated its 200th Birthday. That summer, DC comics had 14 titles that had crossed the 200 issue mark. Name as many as you can: (50 points each)

    a. Detective
    b. Action
    c. Batman
    d. Brave & the Bold
    e. Superman
    f. Flash
    g. Justice League of America
    h. Adventure
    i. World's Finest
    j. Our Army at War (Sgt Rock)
    k. Wonder Woman
    l. Unexpected
    m. Superboy
    n. Star Spangled War Stories (Unknown Soldier)
    o. House of Mystery
I know I'm botching some of these, but this is what I came up with...

    6. What do Creepy #20, Nightmare #20 (Skywald) and Classics Illustrated #40 all have in common? (150 points). I'm going to say that each featured an adaptation of a horror story by Poe, since it's the only link I can see among an early issue of Classics Illustrated and the much later sleaze-horror '70s titles. Vincent Price's face flashed into my mind when I read this question, no doubt a subconscious Poe clue!
