Angel's Aerie: Angel Appreciation

Hell, most characters on here have their own appreciation thread, I might as well dedicate one to my favorite mutant, Angel!

He really is an underrated character, and I would love to see what writer's would do with him, besides yank his wings off him and drown him in angst.

Anyway, post to your heart's desire all the things you love about my man Warren Kenneth Worthington III, aka The High-Flying Angel! Any old school X-Men fans? Post here! Old School Champions fans? I loooooooooove that costume on that cover. The way the white comes up in the rectangular box is so great, and no blue skin or cowl makes him look cool.

I like Angel in certain situations. I liked how he sacrificed himself in AoA.
I liked him in the Psylocke/ Angel story (mini-series?) where he gave up some of his life for her (and then she starts throwing herself at Neal. Ho.)
I liked him as Death and when he got the wings of light.
I LOVED the issue with Marrow where they fight the abomination. In fact that's my favourite Angel issue right there. Might scan it.

I agree...that issue where he's in the sewers and Marrow helps him fight and he tells her she's beautiful and the Abomination gets pissed. One of the best issues of X-Men ever!!

I love Angel one of 2 ways....feather wings with blue skin or with his metallic wings...but I do prefer the feathers I just think the blue skin with blond hair and coming from a rich family worked for the character IMO. I haven't read much with Angel lately and would love to see him in a book real soon! He's a great character that is being wasted in comic limbo at the moment.

Where is that Gary Frank image from in the first post? I never liked that costume but Gary Frank makes it look cool...that is an awesome picture and Angel looks great in it.

That issue with Marrow was so freaking awesome. Joe Kelly really had a firm grasp on who Warren was as a characer.

I also love his current costume. Really suits him, and it's tons better than than nasty one he was previously wearing in UXM. My favorite though will always be the dark blue one with the halo.

I didn't want my favorite character to be treated as cannon fodder. I see in a lot of threads people go in and bash on Warr, but I wanted a thread where people could post love for him.

While I'm not 'in love' with his current costume, it's bar none, way better than his previous Uncanny one. And I too love his dark blue one with the halo, but the red variant is a close second.

I was never a big fan of Angel. Then Joe Kelly warmed me up to the character. And then Joey Casey made him one of my favorites: best. angel. ever! Shame Austen ruined him a little after.

I kinda miss him, though. It's been a while since he last had an important role in the X-Books.

My favorite comic series was The New Defenders, which featured Warren in that outfit. That's how I was introduced to him, and that's how I fell in love with him. As I got more into comics, and found the blue suit, I fell in love all over again.
