The news today says that Batman Begins screenwriter David Goyer is writing a script for a movie that sends Green Arrow to prison where he has to fight villains he put there and team up with some others to break out.

I'm holding it as much as with the proposed JLA movie, Flash and Shazam ones.

Green Arrow is actually not a bad choice - he is a relatively obscure character, but really he's one of the least absurd ones - he's an archer - doesn't require a huge suspension of disbelief, and archery is a suprisingly popular sport.

I predict modest success, with even a remote chance of it becoming a crossover hit - the character has a certain archaic appeal - if they don't muck it up as they have with so many characters.

The old innocent guy in prison schtick though, that one rarely works, it's just too cliche, and it forces most of the characters into cliches in order to establish a good vs. evil dichotomy.

Prision movies are beeter when nobody is innocent, evil vs... less evil.

Bottom line is, if it's a good movie, people will watch it: nobody wants to see a a bad movie however popular the character may be.

unless this is some reference to dolph lundgren i don't get...

anyway, this movie sounds like it could be great. or it could be that don wilson movie where he is forced to expose corruption in the midst of a race war.

Yeah, but that's a natural story idea for the Punisher and makes sense - but why make that a film with that, when you could do it for a character that nobodies heard about, and it's not a natural story idea for them at all?

Yes, and it was my first graphic novel. I dragged that book everywhere with me until it just fell apart.
