I'll get my list up in a few, but for anyone getting this book, take a look at THIS:

    http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.947

There are 142 characters shown on Avengers: The Initiative #1's two covers.

Editor Molly Lazer went to bat and put together this killer character map specifically for Marvel.com. Not that she had much trouble with it, mind you. "Just for the record, I was able to name 100 of the characters myself without looking at any reference," Lazer says. "Woo hoo!"

The full list is below, but check out both the map and finished covers to the left to see where they are on the covers.

Big week this time, with a lot of good books.

    Avatar
    Wolfskin #3 of 3:
I was wondering if this would ever see the light of day. Time to break out the first two issues so I can remember whats going on.

    Dark Horse
    Buffy The Vampire Slayer #2:
Woohoo! Enjoyed issue 1, can't wait for this one.

    DC/Vertigo
    52 Week 48:
Last month, two weeks to WW3. Good as always.
Jack of Fables #9: Is this the second half of the Jack Frost story? can't remember. Should be good either way.
Justice League of America #7: I'll give it at least through the JLA/JSA crossover, but then it'll have to work it's way onto the list. Not attached to the JLA so it might get bumped.
Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes #28: Not sure if I'll continue with this after Waid and Kitson leave, but Tony Bedard has been good on other things I've read from him, and he's been co writing with Waid for a while, so it may be okay. may come down to if the art takes a hit. Love the series though.

    Marvel
    Avengers: Initiative #1:
Giving this one a shot. Not sure if this will actually be a third Avengers book, or if it get it's own identity. We'll see what characters are in it and if I like them.
Fallen Son: Wolverine: It's got art by Yu, so I'll buy it just for that. Could be a nice story.
Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears #3 of 6: I should probably drop this and wait for the trade, but I like the art enough to stick with it. It's the Ghost Rider story with no Ghost Rider.
Immortal Iron Fist #4: Enjoying this more than I thought I would. The flashbacks are cool, and the main story has been entertaining so far. Even the art is better than I thought.
Iron Man: Hypervelocity #4 of 6: Enjoying this one a lot. Great action and some cool plot points that should be carried into the regular books. I have a feeling this will be considered non-canon though.
Irredeemable Ant-man #7: Now that the opening story is done, we'll see if the character has legs. Art should remain good if this is the Cory Walker fill-in.
Omega Flight #1 of 5: C'mon, it's got Beta Ray Bill, RCMP for crying out loud!! Looking forward to this, especially Kolins' art.
Runaways #25: Double shot of Whedon!! This will be a test for the series though, see if it can survive without Vaughan. Should be decent with Whedon, I just don't have much familiarity with Michael Ryan's work, so that has me worried.

    Oni press
    Maintenence #3:
A case of first taste is free, the rest you have to pay for. Enjoyed the first two issues enought to add it to my list. looking forward to it.

Edit: Forgot to add Elk's Run TPB which I just saw comes out this week as well. Heard a lot of good things about it, hope it lives up. Between this, the Weapon X HC from a few weeks ago, and the rest of my books, this week looks pretty pricey.

    I'm Getting
    -----------
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #2--Because I never got to read #1 before we moved, and I have no idea what box it is in right now.

Absolute Batman: The Long Halloween HC--Because I'm weak.
Batman: Black and White Statue by Matt Wagner--Because it's Matt Wagner.
Batman: Detective TP--Because Dini kicked ass on this.
Detective Comics #831--Because I'm liking this book right now
Jonah Hex vol. 2: Guns of Vengeance TP--Because Palmiotti & Gray are doing a great job
Supergirl #16--Because Joe Kelly is the first writer to get me to like (or even take seriously) this new Supergirl.
Superman #661--Because #660 got misplaced in the move, this too will not be read for a little while.

    Essential Spider-Man vol. 8--Because I love classic Spider-Man stories.
Runaways #25--Because Patricia is jumping up and down for it.
Spider-Girl vol. 8: Duty Calls Digest--Because I like the retro storytelling feel to this series.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Clone Saga Premiere HC--Because I'm worried that it isn't in the oversized format

    I'm Waiting for Trade
    --------------------
Jack of Fables--Because trades are more cost effective. Dammit.
Jonah Hex--Because trades look cool on the bookshelf.
Justice League of America--Because I don't really care that much.
Nightwing--Because I miss the character, so I'm having second thoughts.
Avengers: Initiative--Because I like Dan Slott, and the trade is a sure-thing
Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born--Because I don't like King, but I do like Lee.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man--Because the first 6 issues were disappointing, but I like PAD too much to give up completely (yet).
Hulk and Power Pack--Because I'm a big geek.
Immortal Iron Fist--Because it's easier to Wait for a new series than drop an existing one.
Iron Man: Hypervelocity--Because I love Adam Warren, but Marvel minis are usuallly collected.
    New Excalibur--Because I like Claremont.
Spider-Man Family--Because Marvel minis are usually collected.
Thunderbolts Presents Zemo: Born Better--Because I've been reading TBolts in trade, I'm hoping this gets collected too.
Fallen Angel (IDW)--Because IDW single issues cost to damn much.
Maintenance--Because the first two issues really made me laugh, and I prefer to have it on my bookshelf.

    I Skipped
    ---------
Fallen Son: Wolverine--Because when I had to place my order, Cap hadn't been shot yet, so I had no idea what this was about. But upon reflection, I honestly don't care about Wolverine's reaction to Cap's death. Iron Man's will be much more meaningful IMO.

Spider-Man Family--Because Marvel minis are usually collected. - This is an ongoing. But it's got a few new stories and then reprints some other stuff.

Jamie - Because he cares. :)

That was one of Patricia's Top Five Proudest eBay Wins. I have no illusions as to who gets that one in the event of a divorce. :p

    Eric,

I think that you and I are in the same boat. I've read this book since the beginning so it has been real hard to drop since the OYL debacle. I stopped after 2 issues into the Jones run and then went back and bought a bunch later. Then, I just picked up issues #124 ~ 130 for less than $1 each at my LCS last week. This includes the last Jones issue and the beginning of the Wolfman run and I had planned on plowing through these books this week (until I got the Tellos bug again). Keep an eye out on the what did you read? thread where I try and post my thoughts.

I've got both of these too! Wolfskin is great stuff so far, and Elk's was a must buy. I lost count of the tpb's I have to read... Ugh...

Store got shorted on Wolfskin so that one will have to wait till next week. Got Elk's Run though, haven't flipped through it yet.

I'll definitely do that. I stopped after Jones's second issue. In truth, the first issue was horrible enough for me to decide, but due to pre-ordering I got stuck with the second. then when I heard he was being replaced, I couldn't make up my mind as to whether Wolfman was the right decision or the wrong one, so I sat and did nothing. I'm curious to see what you (and others) think.

I read all of the issues last night. I'm encouraged by the last couple of Wolfman/Igle issues...
