Great interview! Not to take away from it at all, I spoke with Warren and company as well, so check it out:

It's definitely an interesting take on the genre. What do you all think of Ryp's art?

Ryp is a great artist. His attention to detail is exceptional, it reminds me of Geoff Darrow's style.

    Default Ridiculous

This "Black Summer" review is ridiculous in how seriously it treats the subject matter. Imagine if, instead of using the events of a wanton slaughter of Bush and Cheney for war crimes to examine the morality of acting in the name of the right, the good even when it's against the law, imagine instead that this "Gun" character were a Operation Life agent targeting abortion doctors. Imagine a two-page spread of doctors lying in heaps and pools of blood, while the "Gun" clenches his fists, examing the carnage, and then try, I dare you to try to imagine some idiot columnist talking in serious tones about how this "comic" is some form of morality examination on acting on one's own conscience even when it's clearly outside the law. Good grief, that damn comic and art would never make it three seconds past an editor without that editor screaming their lungs out at such an utterly disgusting topic and idea. Yes, since Bush and Cheney are Devil-spawned evil-doers, as wel all know of course, such a comic gets the greenlight and everyone is supposed to take such sophmoric idiocy seriously. You're kidding me right??

I couldn't wait for the trade, so I picked up #1 last week. Was not disappointed. :D Some prime "Batshit crazy Ellis," indeed.

Yeah but you'd have to actually read it to know that.

who cares about the review?? it's the quality of the story that matters and after reading #0 & #1 i must say it's pretty damn interesting. i don't much care if he's trying to put some political message out it's just the story i'm interested in.
Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order

You know, I'm not the biggest Ellis fan, but I'll pick this up when it's a TPB.

Sounds interesting and I like the art.
