They aren't all bad. Feral and Siryn's hold up to today. Boomer's outfit is only bad because the coloring. You do that in more muted tones and it would be awesome. Sunspot and Shatterstar are mis-colored in that pic right? Sunsport was red and blue and Shatterstar was white and red? The costumes themselves aren't bad. Cannonball's is good except for the excessive pronouncement of the padding
Rictor's is bizarrely out of date by about 5 years at that point. He looks like a hairband roadie. Warpath is more of a YMCA castoff.

I feel like Siryn's current costume reminds me of her X-Force one.

This costume is infinitely boring compared to the other one.

In fact, the reduction in bright, gaudy costumes is a reason a lot of fun has gone out of X-books, I'd say. None of those costumes in the previous X-force image are all that bad. Dated? Yeah a bit, but fairly superhero-ie...and they actually work with the style.

Also, kids would much prefer those kinds of costumes to "hey this sorta maybe looks like it could be in a movie right?!" style that we get all the time now. Yawn.

I agree with you there. I am a fan of the 90's, not matter how ridiculous things got, it was still fun. It's a comic book after all, I expect to throw logic out the window as it is.

This is why Marvel comics will never be school-yard relevant again. and I mean the comics themselves. Until the sense of childlike wonder, magic and, yes, ridiculousness, is back, kids will never latch onto it. And comics are worse in general for it.

Comics are slower, dimmer and duller now. I just read the first volume of Claremonts Master Masterworks...and more happens in that first collection of a few issues than has happened in the last 5 years of any given comic.

I say bring back those bright costumes! As long as the art is actually good (GTFO Liefeld) they look just fine.

I don't know who drew it, but Liefeld probably drew the pouches. And, the legs are so anatomically marvelous that Liefeld is a real possibility for the pencils.

Can we get Rasputin some kind of POTM award for inexplicably bumping the most innane thread imaginable. It would be like a lifetime achievement award.

There are some X-Force v1 issues where his outfit flirts with the outfit in the image. He's running around shirtless for some reason in X-Force 13, but his pants with thigh pouches and buffed padded boots are the same. When he eventually gets a shirt on, his guns look the same and he has most of the outfit. The drawing we're trying to match up just has another layer or two of more chest pouches. It's probably a playing card image.

VIVA KUSASAN!!! Morrison On Magneto: I made him into a stupid old drug-addicted idiot. CC had done a lot of good work over the years to redeem the character. And I went in and sh*t on all of it.
